Ok, I know you were probably sworn never to actually admit the RX-8 was there (although we all know different and have seen the pics), so if you don't want to respond in an open forum, perhaps a private message/email ring would be in order.
Even if I don't get the answers to these questions, I'd kick myself if I didn't ask them, so here goes:
1. How did the interior look in all black? Was there any major changes you could see? Was the car that was there cloth or leather?
2. What was the exhaust note like when it pulled up? Did the driver blip the throttle to give you all goosebumps? :D
3. What's the deal with the side mirrors? Were those black strips part of the design or part of the masking? The more I look at the pictures the more it looks like its part of the design to me. Does it look like the turn signals will still be built in to the mirrors?
4. Did you see any sunroof details? Does it retract into the headliner, or does it tilt up and over the roof?
5. Did you get to sit in it, or was it a gawk session only?

i too would like to know how it sounded. i got passed by a new corvette last night and that thing sounded amazing. gave me chills! i hope the rx8 sounds at least half that good! and on the sunroof i have a general sunroof question. a freind showed me his new car the other day and it has a sunroof. if you push the rocker switch back it slides into the roof. and if you push the switch forward it closes, but if you push it forward again once it is closed it pops open like it is hinged at the front. so my questions is to any one who has a sunroof on a mazda now does it have this capability does anyone know if we can expect this from mazda?

the roof on my protege5 does that. two buttons slide and tilt.
the slide moves back into the roof, the tilt pops the back up like a vent.

I imagine at that speed... just barely idling, it probably sounded exactly like a 3rd gen, at idle... with all the cat's and emission stuff on... IE VERY quiet!... I doubt we'll hear any kind of a "Battle Cry" for a while.

That said, APPARENTLY, Mazda have spent some serious effort to make it sound "Right"... I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I heard that they really worked on the sound. I think rotaries sound cool in general so it shouldnt dissapoint.

Sorry Sput, there was supposed to be a winky emoticon behind my earlier post.
I just wanted to know if the car was loud or not basically.

Actually,
at WOT it sounded quite nice. Much like a newer ferarri but with the growl of the rotory. Its difficult to describe, but I must say i fell in love with the exhaust note. It certainly sang and didn't have a chainsaw-like rawness, but more like a muffled air socket driver used in the pits and at tire shops.
Quite enjoyable.

Also,
"I did not see an RX-8 at the sevenstock banquet!"
:D
I did see a spirit R rx-7 on a spirited drive thru Laguna Seca and heard some Interesting audio clips on video.

Nuff said!
