Is there a monthly fee to use the navigation system? My dealer said no but I want to make sure.
thanks in advance.

No fee Rick, looks like a dealer slipped up and told the truth... ;)

I have the nav - no fee. I do expect a letter from either Mazda or Navtech eventually offering to sell an updated map DVD - however you can keep using the DVD that comes with the car for as long as you are happy with the content.

Rick, you are so damn smart double-checking what the dealer said when you weren't too sure. Even though he happened to be telling the truth this time, it's great to follow-up to keep your dealer honest.

WaaaHaaaHa LOL! :p That does happen occasionally.

Love your humor Boozehound.

On a serious note, and to keep it on topic,.... the only Nav fees that I think we'll ever incur, and that would be optional, would be DVD map updates that may come out annually or maybe every 2 years.

FYI, new disc is $199 for entire North america and Canada, or $129 for a single region of the country.

khoney,

Thanks for that info. Do you have a link for the makers of the DVD disc? I assume we have the most current version already.

I went to www.navtech.com - map discs can be ordered online. They don't have the RX-8 listed yet, but I assumed the price was the same as for the Porsches, BMWs, etc.

Just for the record, I was not implying dishonesty.
Thanks for the replies.
