Ok Guys that already own their car in Canada, Quebec in particular, can you share your premium abd deductibles for your insurance?

i'm 44, they charge me about 1500$, with 2000$ minimum deduct., no (valeur a neuf ) in english?? , and i have to have a boomerang. I live in Laval.

Am i in the same league as others?

Wow that seems high??

I don't know about Montreal, but I know insurance in Hull is lower than Ottawa.

I thought you paid part of your insurance with your plates and licence fees.

I am paying less than that at 25 with $500 deductible!

Hey Madjoker, that is a really low rate, is that insured as a second car? Who is your insurer?

BTW "valeur neuf" is "replacement cost for new" in other words if it's totaled or stolen, you get a new one.

Montreal has a very active car theft ring hence why many insurers demand a "bomerang" style alarm system for higher end cars. However I am surprised that Laval is included but not South Shore.

Hi TT2RX8,

Could you please tell us the name of your insurer ie policy issuer and not necessarily your broker althought that would be good too.

My current broker wants me to pay my current rate until next year and then make an adjustment (yeah as if).

I grew up in Ontario and left there at age 20. When I left, I was paying $1200.00 a year for insurance on my RX-7, registered under my mom's name and me as the casual driver. I moved to Alberta where I payed less then $1000.00 for a whole year with me listed as the principle driver and owner.

So ya.... Ontario Insurance rates are worse.. but lets hear from our buddies in BC, what's the cost out there??

So far the best that I can get is $1,500 . Although I'm still waiting to hear from Capitale. If I was to move to the 'burbs it would drop to $800:mad: They say that it is based on the number of claims for the postal code (I'm in K2P). I say prove it.

The only thing that I can think of is that there are a lot of people who have to park overnight on the street. However my car is indoors. Personally I think they take us for suckers, and like gas, we don't get a whole lot of choice, pay up or move. We are already being taken to the cleaners for housing, guess insurance companies are just bellying up to the trough <sp?>.

Hey Gaels22, are you in the downtown core or in the burbs?

I added it to my policy in July, and just got the bill; it was $335 for the rest of the term, so an annual cost of $803CAN, $565US, with a $1000 deductible, glass covered except windshield. (no requirement to fit a Lojack etc.)

I live in 'rural' Alberta, have no points on my record, (!) and am old enough to be trusted, I guess!

You guys have nothing to complain about. I live in a place with very low traffic density, no organized car theft "rings", no car theft really to speak of (other than some guy up north who got his skidoo stolen at his hunting camp). I live in Newfoundland.

I had my RX-8 insured with the Co-operators for $2300 per year. $1M public liability, $250 ded collision, $100 ded comprehensive, "valeur à neuf"

Just cancelled and switched to Anthony insurance for same coverage for $1600.

I really can't figure out why rates are so ridiculous here ... similar rates in NS (probably all Atlantic Canada). I suppose there must be a rash of "soft tissue" claims ....
