View Full Version : Mazda looking out for the Buyers? WOW
TXs are Rex ate 08-24-2003, 01:38 PM THIS JUST HIT ME...
I have been reading these threads for a while, I still have paper plates , about 850 miles on the odometer- I LOVE MY CAR!!!
However I did get stiffed about 950.00 over MSRP—a different sales man at the same dealership tried to sell it to me with a 5000.00 mark up some pore folks paid it.
Anyone else??? I just wanted the car so bad and they were the only ones in town with the car and a GT PKG----*At World Car Mazda--- I would have to have waited a month
an addendum they called it, in fact it was a straight out lie- he said it was for a paint and interior treatment that would give me extra protection and be guaranteed *(it was not) [thats what got me there with the cashiers check- walkout 34356.28]- as well as run flat tires, cd changer, 350 hp *at the time I knew this stuff was not true-
I knew so much more about the car then he did, I can not even remember it all- but there were many other things he told me that were not true-
OK here is the zinger- I read somewhere,it happened before, maybe it was no mistake--- 0-60 no change?? odd,
COULD IT BE THAT Mazda is giving every buyer a chance to get there money back from all the bad dealers that gave them bad deals overcharged etc.
now can go and buy from a one of the good guys.
BONUS- all the jerk dealers who over charged in the new car frenzy will now be stuck with used cars and have to sell below msrp lol --- hahah
Poetic justice I think!!!! But was it the intent of Mazda?
Was not the Miata over priced by dealers- when it first came out.. did the same thing happen there?
Anythoughts?
8_wannabe 08-24-2003, 02:02 PM I'd say there is zero chance that "Mazda is giving every buyer a chance to get there money back from all the bad dealers that gave them bad deals overcharged etc." Makes no sense at all from any kind of business perspective.
However, i agree with all your comments about jerk dealers. Yours sounds towards the scum end of the scale. Did you get any of that stuff in writing, like run-flat tires, etc.? If so, you've got a real case against them.
If not, here's what I recommend. Let 'em know you're gonna return the car (even if you're not.) Tell 'em you'll be in in a few days to return it. Tell 'em you don't like the gas mileage or some of the other stupid stuff people have been griping about (not the horsepower, make up some other complaints.)
This sets them up: They would not only lose profit on the sale, but their big, fat markup goes down the toilet. They'll lose that too plus have a used car on their hands (btw, get over 1000 miles on it before you take it back, to really stiff 'em.) They're gonna do what they can to talk you out of returning the car: Free RX-8 ballcap, whatever. Play the game like you're not interested, then finally say, "Ok, I'll split the markup with you." Make 'em give you back half that $950 in cash. That at least let's them recover their costs for the "extras" and not lose the sale entirely. Stand firm and don't be afraid to bluff. Until you sign back the title to them, let 'em sweat that you're really walking away from this deal. Give 'em hell and let us know how it goes.
TXs are Rex ate 08-24-2003, 02:17 PM there is no need now, if mazda will buy back the car for the HP snafoo, I can get ALL the 950.00 back just buy it somewhere else..... with more extras
AND YOUR WRONG... if the dealers are makeing as much as or more profit than Mazda---
Mazda may not like that-- whats the point of such a low price if there is mark up over MSRP>>>>
then Mazda will have a lot of costomers that feel bad about buying a Mazda, --
BUT if mazda does this buy back, and people who over payed take advantge of it,
No one will not over pay for their cars the 2nd time around-
you can get it from the good guys, and a free car in the mean time --without a bluf --or games or anything...
TXs are Rex ate 08-24-2003, 02:21 PM no one will over pay the 2nd time around... and just think of all the dealers who did overcharge... and will have many used cars on their lots...
hindesight and all that...
Cars0n 08-24-2003, 03:31 PM I really don't think this will work the way you think.
The dealers aren't going to have lots of used cars. Of the very few that do get turned back in, if it works as the Miata program did, they are offered to Mazda employees. The rest are then offered to dealerships as program cars. This helps out the resale values of the others because the market won't be flooded with 2 month old used cars.
The dealership might loss the premium you paid, but I doubt there are enough returns to make them care that much.
TXs are Rex ate 08-24-2003, 05:10 PM I am only talking about the people that payed OVER MSRP...
and are not happy about it, I am not saying the value of the car over all is going down...
Just that ALL the people who payed anything OVER MSRP, will now have a chance to go some place else, NO QUESTIONS>>>
and get MSRP--- and with the extra money-- get more extras?
how will that not work?
I will say again.. I love my car,
I just hate that I payed more then I had to because those jerks where the only ones with a car left to sell...
boowana 08-24-2003, 05:12 PM If I were you, i would taker the car back to the dealer who ripped you off. You would be entitled to a full refund. There is no way that mazda can stop you from buying another one IMHO and I would go and buy a new one from an honest dealer. There are many in Texas. Just list your city and I'm sure you'll get lots of reponses about honest delers who don't rip off their customers.
BTW, tell the World who the Ripp off dealer is so that others can avoid them too.

O yes, I plan to - after - ,
I will just say (*for now) that World Car, Legend, and North Park, Mazda-- all wanted MSRP only, and Non of them treated me like I need to give them a down payment in order for them to start talking price…. *like this other place did ----
World Car, Legend, and North Park, Mazda in my area were very honest - honest , and- just out of RX-8s , the place I bought from *not mentioned above- had a little selection for me to choose from .. ha-ha

My salesman said you won't get back any "added" monies. He has been wrong before though. Good Luck.

from a phone call after the leter was recieved---...
So - Mazda advised to for me to return the car, and perhaps buy another with different options - go figure. Regardless of how much we all complain - they will do nothing. We all have been screwed in away - but logically speaking

RodsterinFL 08-25-2003, 06:46 PM Well, my goal in life is NOT to make people angry yet I would have to say that anyone who chose to pay over sticker for the car did so willingly. That is the key. They were not forced to do so but chose to do it. I had the same choice here where Naples was stickering the cars above MSRP and Fort Myers which was holding them at MSRP. I had to shop around. A dealer should not be bad mouthed for a mutual decision. I would not go to Naples (the markup dealer) to buy my car - that's all.

Gee, I know who you're talking about. I started dealing with THEM initially, then went to World Car to pre-order after THEY got horsey on price. I never heard from THEM from January 10th thru mid-July, then out of the blue they call to tell me "the car we ordered for you is coming in next week". I said no thanks, I already ordered one somewhere else. Thanks to the posts on this forum, I already knew they didn't have a car in inventory matching my specs because I went onto their web site. They had the right color, but wrong interior color. They then offered $500 under MSRP, and I said I'd consider it. Next time they called, they had 'my' car on the lot, and I said "No thanks, I already have one, but I'm sure you'll have no problem selling MY car". That felt SOOOO good to say to a sleazy car dealer.

I chose not to wait, .... I could have gone somewhere else but would not have my car for over a month…...
Also—I was told that the over charge was for protection on my paint and leather...
But later I found out that was a lie when someone else tried to sell me that deal for real after I had my car paid for- paid cash they even removed the sticker and put it in the clove box, ------ for the first few days I thought I was paying sticker... ----could have returned it then, but I did not want to wait 30 days without a car!
THINK about it.. What if Mazda knows this.. it happened before....
if you over paid ------- you now can have a free loaner car from the guys that thought they were getting a bonus---and can now buy from an honest dealer who should have a car available now...
without question.. *cause of the buy back program***
