Napboy 08-24-2003, 02:22 PM you're going to hell
Puppy1 08-24-2003, 03:41 PM But isn't the ECU the correct fix. If the ECU was reprogrammed at the port because of not passing certian EPA numbers, then all we need is the OLD ECU and keep the new one for testing time. Instant 9 HP.

B-Nez 08-24-2003, 08:42 PM I, for one, would not spend several hundred $$$ for 9 HP. For 15-25? Sure (such as with the FC NA's and the exhaust). Not to mention the time and trouble to mail your ECU and wait patiently for it to be chipped and returned...not worth 9 HP, IMHO.
Master Phu 08-24-2003, 11:49 PM That's just not right...
RX-8 Zoomster 08-25-2003, 02:55 AM Cruel, absolutely cruel. :(
May the spirit of the horsepower demon rise up, take away your remaining 238, and leaves them to burn up in the flaming inferno. :D

I believe you are right. I said before, that I strongly believe we will recover those missing HP through mods. In fact, I still believe the full 280 from the RX-EVOLV is there waiting to be unleashed. :D

Honestly, I would spend the $500 that Mazda will be sending me, to upgrade it back to the original HP (247) or improve the HP that the dyno's are reporting. That would even it out as if this never happened in the first place.
As for mailing in your ECU, that shouldn't be necessary. Don't most places dealing with ECU modifications require just a deposit. They program a duplicate ECU, & send it to you. After you send back your original ECU, you get your deposit back. You modders out there correct me if I'm wrong.
So my $500 will go into the RX-8 mod account waiting for an upgrade like this to happen.
Squidward 08-25-2003, 04:22 PM Last I heard, Garret Lim is currently working on a mod upgrade for the RX-8, but won't be done with it until after christmas, unfortunately.

I beg your pardon? Can you clarify your statement?
Edited:
Sorry I'm sometimes slow. Do you mean exhaust fumes? If so, then I won't worry about the guy behind me. As long as I speed to stay ahead of my own exhaust, that's ok with me. ;)
