OK, maybe it's time for a little lighter topic.

I notice that most cars let out a pretty horrible odor when the driver really hits the gas .... pedal. :) When you're behind them, it's generally unpleasant.

Some cars are worse than others, though. Anyone been behind an RX-8 that's getting floored? How bad is it?

It's usally the brand of gasoline they are using. The "Additives" that are used are usally what causes this. In most cases the rotten egg / sulfur smell. When I lived in california and would fill up at ARCO, my car would always stink from buying their gas. I soon learned to buy another brand soon after.

Often this happens when the catalytic converter is overwhelmed (for example when accelerating hard). I've noticed it in other cars too.

Never get behind the cars coming out of Crystals or White Castle you might go comatose from the stench!
