I have a two wheel tow dolly (trailer) and would like to know if it is possible or desirable to tow my AT RX8 with the rear wheels on the dolly?

View Full Version : Towing an AT RX8? Phil's 8 07-10-2006, 03:06 PM I have a two wheel tow dolly (trailer) and would like to know if it is possible or desirable to tow my AT RX8 with the rear wheels on the dolly? SlayerRX8 07-10-2006, 07:25 PM As far as I know, the 8 needs a flatbed truck when it needs to be taken to the garage. I've never heard of anyone towing their 8 with a tow dolly but I assume the same rules apply. Search about towing and you may come up with your answer. Hope that helps. UhateMyRX8 07-10-2006, 08:01 PM I agree with SlayerRX8, You need a flatbed. I would never tow it on a dolly. Hell no are you crazy! Hey Slayer, I take it you are a fan of Slayer?? If so Where is your location? tiggerlee 07-10-2006, 08:34 PM When I moved from Chicago to Orlando I rented one of Uhaul's flatbed trailers to bring my Nissan Altima with me, didn't have the 8 yet.I've done this just about every time that I have moved, which has been quite frequent over the last few years. I've heard some horror stories from folks using just the dollies. If your moving it a very short distance then it might be ok, if not then I would strongly suggest you pay a few extra bucks and just get the full trailer instead or hire a flatbed to move it for you. RX8babe 07-16-2006, 02:35 AM Used to work for Mazda roadside, we flatbed all rx-8's, AT or not. NgoRX8 07-16-2006, 02:53 AM ^there's your answer PerformRX-8 07-16-2006, 06:35 PM Used to work for Mazda roadside, we flatbed all rx-8's, AT or not. why would it matter if its an AT or MT hahahah The other mazda rep i talked to said that if they tow the rx-8 with a dolley tow it bends the front suspension! which I could understand, but he said never ever tow it on anything else, but the flatbed, and to make sure you tell the towing company or mazda roadside (which they should already know) that you need to have a flatbed! RX8babe 07-17-2006, 02:19 AM If the rep is properly trained they should know to tell the towing company to bring out a flatbed and a good towing company will also not tow it on anything else bc they will be held liable for any damage. DOMINION 07-24-2006, 06:21 AM I had my 8 towed but not on a flatbed. It was the kind of tow truck that had to rolled my back tires over some kind of plate that had 2 wheels under each wheel in the back of my 8. Think that did any kind of harm? |
