Ordered my OEM replacement rubber today

I just wanted to share my excitement with somebody...and who better than the folks at rx8club. My 225/45/18 Kumho SPT's should be here in a day or two. I can't wait to get these on. The stockers have approximately 35,000 miles on them...yes, they're due.

I'll have to make time for a few burnouts in the next few days as well. Can't take 'em off without a proper good-bye!

You made it to 35,000 miles with the OEM tires? That's got to be some kind of record or something. Were they Bridgestone or Dunlop?

If it's not a record...it is damn close. They are the Bridgestone's. Very crappy tires, especially at this milage...but I just got married and paying for the wedding was sucking up all my funds. Can't wait to get these off and finally HEAR the sweet music of the rotary again!

Definitely congrats! My Dunlops lasted 27K and I thought that was good.

I should share mine also in this thread, I'm getting Kumho MX tires 275/35 thrown on my car tomorrow. Now, what I really, really need to do is start modifying the driver with some HPDE sessions.

my front potenzas have around 20k+ on them and are still in great shape, id espect at least another 15k more. the back ones are bad only b/c i got nails in both back tires and had to replace them with tires from a used set i had and they were worn from the get go. i drive aggressively, but as long as you dont burnout or do any of that show off stuff you should be able to get 30k out of the tires easially

35K miles???????? Wow!
Mine (Bridgestone) lasted about 22k before the rear became racing slicks.
I just got the Kumho SPT tires put on this week and I really like them.

I am excited. I have heard only good things about the Kumho's...and can't wait to get them on. UPS says they will be at my door on Wednesday. Guess I will be busy this weekend!

I am resurecting this thread because I finally got these bad boys mounted, and I am

My stockers were so worn out (37,000 miles) and NOISEY AS HELL!!! It's f***ing awesome to finally be able to hear the rotary at RPMs lower than 6,000. And I can't believe how quiet this car is when cruising. I can't tell if the damn thing is still running or not.

I know this isn't much of a review of the tires...I haven't had a chance to put them to the test yet...just needed to share my excitement!

How funny. That was the first thing I noticed too! Aside from the softer ride you can actually hear the motor.

I've had mine on for a weeks now and love them and love the price.

Please share your observations about the Kumhos vs the stones when you get a few miles on them. given the lower price of the kumhos do you give up any grip vs the stones ect. The kumhos have gotten good reviews

Everything has improved since making the switch from the stock Bridgestones to the new Kumho's (dry/wet grip, noise, ride quality, steering, etc.)...although that doesn't say much. The tires I'm comparing them to were GONE! From what I've read from other owners and from my initial impressions, these Kumho's are a great tire for the money...assuming you don't plan on taking them on multiple track/autoX days.

And for $100/corner (including shipping to my door), they're hard to beat!

Smile Agreed!

I got Kuhmo SPT's last month to replace my Bridgestone's and I just can't get over it. It has totally restored my enjoyment of the vehicle.

37k miles on stock tires.... your kumhos will be sold with the car...

at 1 million miles... anyway.. i have the spts still love them... have 25k miles on them now...

notes. still great in the wet and dry.... a little bit of noise, but that is due to a spring shock change that has not been aligned yet. long story..

the rotation dents in the tires are cool.... if you read the site they work... as it looks, i rotate every 5k miles... i am going to get at least 45 to 50 k miles out of these tires..

btw, RenoIV get of my finish, i am watching you!!!!!

beers
