two of my good friends are getting married and they are both pretty wacky and they plan on doing something non-traditional (formal attire to include sandals shorts hawaiian shirts and of all things...military helmets...don't ask its an inside joke). And she asked me to become a justice of the peace to marry them...quite an honor...but wow what a responsibility i've only seen marriages by priests...what am i supposed to do, do i use the mawwiage speech from Princess Bride.

"Mawwaige is what bwings us togeva today." Classic.

Just ask them what they want. If they don't have a good idea of how you should conduct it then you have free reign.

Randomly shout "INCOMING!" and have them hit the deck during the ceremony.

my girlfriend (also not a priest) married 2 of our good friends a couple weeks ago. i helped her write the speech. i think if they chose you to lead the ceremony, then anything you say that is from the heart should make them happy.

our friends seemed extremely pleased with the ceremony. and you can even get ordained online/

my g/f did a lot of research on ceremony formats and formulas. in the end, though, what helped the most was talking to the bride and figuring out what she wanted, when she wanted it to happen, and who she wanted to make it happen. irt turned out that after you plug in the basic components of the ceremony, let a few people say some stuff, maybe read a passage or blessing, vows blah blah blah, there werent many blanks to fill in.

this probably doesnt make any sense i feel like crap lol

Become a minister like me. I was ordained in January 2000. I can perform wedding ceremonies.

PA is one of two states that has a self-uniting marriage license. All they need to do is say they're married and have a witness sign-off stating as much. When they go to apply for their marriage license, they need to tell the clerk specifically that they want a self-uniting license.

That's what my wife and I did because she's Christian, I'm Jewish, neither of us are the least bit religious, and we couldn't find a JOP that was available on Halloween to marry us. So we had a friend dress in a monk's robe and perform the ceremony. Afterwards, my best man signed-off on the license.
