Been lurking at this forum far longer than I cared to remember. Finally ordered my very own 8 mid Auguest and today, my dealer told me it is in port and it will be at the dealership within the next couple of days.

This will be my first brand new car and my first rotary engine ever. I hope this will be a good experience despite the horse power issue that everyone (including me) is so concern about.

I've test drove the 8 and it is smooth even at 9RPM. But as expected, the torque isn't there. No where near what my 91MR2 Turbo has right now. The power isn't the main factor in my decision to purchase the 8. My reason is because of its styling/handling (seems to be similar to my MR2)/and practicality. I know this car isn't huge by any means, but its hell of alot bigger than what I have now.

I hope to see more 8s on the road so people won't stare at my car or hover around my car every where i go. So far, I've only seen one on the road. It was a winning blue, it was at the light, wanted to stop in the middle of the intersection and take pics of the car. But alas, no camera and too many cars was behind me.......

See u all on the road with ur 8s.

Congrats, you'll love it. I am the same way- my first new car, and my first rotary. I'm completely in love, and it gets worse every day.

And I agree about getting more of them on the road- I'm getting a little nervous with all the people that want to see/stare at/touch it.

Congrats John, and welcome to our world ;) I drove my old Nissan to a parking lot (with a For Sale sign) last night. It was the 1st time I'd driven it in almost a month since getting my RX-8. I thought the motor was going to blow, it sounded so terrible and loud. I really was worried, until I realized it was just that my perception was a bit skewed after spending so much time in the RX-8. Even my wife's 2002 Santa Fe sounds kinda rough to me now (especially over 3K rpms)...

complex,

Obviously Rotor_Newbie's dealer instead of "ordering" a car that was to be built from scratch, just assigned one of their August allocated vehicles to him.

In your case, if your dealer could not match a car to one of his projected allocated vehicles coming in, the order would go to the factory where your car would be built and then shipped to you. Most of us pre-order customers, the average from build to delivery was about 8 weeks.

complex,

What color are you getting?

The sports is a tough match, especially if it is matched with a less popular color. Most dealers, from what I noticed, are ordering their allocated cars with the Grand Touring Option, and probably half of those have the NAV. The spoiler has no factor since it is port installed.

Good luck with your wait. It's well worth it. :D

Ï saw that blue RX8 in Santa Clara right off of 880. Could that be you?!?

Zoomster was right, my dealer had one coming in that matched what I wanted on the car. So that's why it only took about a month. My other problem now becomes when I'll get the money from the bankers. :p

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know. My car was part of the dealer's allotment, so I never received any correspondence from Mazda concerning my order confirmation or status. Maybe some other forum members that did not receive allocated vehicles can inject. But it will be not very statistical. Some received email and some did not.

Congrats!!!

Wow, so quick! You got everything in order for the pick-up yet? I'd be bouncing around right now with the financing options, insurance, registration. I got caught with my pants down when mine was known to be just a few miles away at a rail head. It was 3-4 weeks early! I wanted to transfer my tag from an old van I got sitting around. I had to register it first before I could transfer it over & I didn't do that yet. (A property tax issue. That's all I'm gonna say as to why.:)) Talk about a mad rush to the DMV the next day!

Sounds to me like you'll be riding before Mazda would even think of sending you an email. Whazup with an email anyways? It aint nuttin.
