Anyone have any interest in a local meet next week in Fairfax, VA area? I frequent NASIOC (Subaru forum) and hang with those guys at their weekly meets (either Wednesdays or Thursday nights...mostly Wed. though) They usually start at about 7pm in the parking lot to chat/B.S. and then go in to eat at a predetermined restaurant at about 7:45ish...anyway, I kinda want to meet some of you guys and I think the STi/WRX/Legacy guys would enjoy some more company...or we could start our own weekly/bi-weekly meet?

I haven't been very active on this board so far but I have been on the Subaru boards almost since they started. I have had a couple WRXs and an STi then decided to get a Miata ('91 BRG) and then added my 2005 Whitewater Pearl RX-8 to my Mazda collection. Also, my brother is a RX-7 nut and we are in the prcocess of a tranny swap on his current RX-7. It is a 1993 Montego Blue Touring w/only 30k original miles. This thing is in awesome condition.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello w/some background on myself and see if any of you would be interested in this. Also, if this is already happening and I am ignorant please lead me in the right direction.

Yeah, I'd be curious about meets in the area

I am a new owner of an RX-8
And I like to call myself a car enthusiast wannabe.....
I've been interested in cars forever, but am just now finally having an opportunity to learn about them
And really alls I do is speed around driving like a maniac
haha

So anyways, I'm up for meets in the area

Of course I'm more in the MD area.....near Silver Spring
Seems like there are alot of Virginians around this board...

This forum is sooooooooooooooooo slow compared to NASIOC. Come on people...well, hanging out with the Subaru guys is fun anyway.

the funny thing is, i just hung out with a bunch of Subaru guys this past weekend at VIR, something about Mazda and Subaru owners getting along and stuff, lol

Dammit! I would love to go, but I'm in SD and the west coast for the next month. When's the next 1? Haha.

Everytime there is a meet close to me, I always have something planned. I've tried to make it to the ones in Richmond but something always comes up. I hate that. If you do it again, I'm all for it.

I am sure I will schedule another one soon. Seems like everyone likes the every-other-week option...

I might just keep this same thread open and just keep posting the new meet on top of the old one. We will see how it turns out on Thursday and go from there...maybe try diferent locations every once in a while. Anyway, the 6th shoudl be fun if everyone comes out. We can all grab a bite to eat somewhere too...

Sooooo....anybody else coming. This can't be all of the 8s in the Fairfax area...

I think if we make this a regular thing, it will grow over time. Back in the day I used to go to the mustang club meets at the Expo Center. When I first started going, it was only about 10-15 cars on any given Saturday. Then it turned into about 75-100 cars or more in a few months.

Speaking of oil, I still need to get a couple quarts for the trunk of my car just in case. What consistancy do we need again?

Off the top of my head I think: 5W-20

It is probably on the oil cap or in the manual...

... And the best place to store a quart of oil or two in the RX-8 is to strap it in with the emergency tire repair kit in the trunk. Fits perfectly, and it doesn't roll around in the trunk. :)
