here's a pdf file of the installation instructions...you'll see that the muffler has two small canisters...where as the first verison muffler had one large can similar to the stock exhaust.

kwescott 09-13-2006, 12:40 AM Hey, it would be nice to have weight and HP increase included with this information or if anybody can add this, than that would be nice.
HP numbers are going to be hard to come by, and then people will just question it anyways. I think there has beensome proof to the claim that the Turbo XS system produces the most HP increase, while the rest are in the same general area of minimal increases. As for weight, that would be great info to add. I'm wondering if this is something that could be obtained by calling each company, because it usually is not something included in the advertisement of the product.
gr8rx 09-13-2006, 12:55 AM due to the fact that most exhausts give little to no gain, I think the weight is the most important part of info that is missing.

I totally agree, as well as cosmetics. There seems to be two different trains of thought..those interested in show, and those interested in go. For those with "go" on their mind, weight will be essential. For "show" it is all about the tips and the sound. Sound, that would be nice, sound clips......ahhh.

which one produces the best HP numbers, Turbo XS
sosonic 09-13-2006, 07:41 PM Wow, how is Turbo XS pulling off 13 HP? How much does that exhaust weigh? Anybody have a Turbo XS exhaust and want to confirm they are that good?
Thanks in advance. Defintely looking for a good exhaust.

Personally I think JIC and RB is way to quite. I've gone through alot of exhaust combos and heard many but I still think borla is the best sounding/looking exhaust. Super deep tone, loud enough to be heard and no drone.

Pm Toca, he has the system. I heard it when he had the Turbo XS midpipe on the system as well...way too loud.

joyridevr6 09-15-2006, 04:27 AM If I ever replace my RB exhaust I would consider this one, full titanium canisters and "thin wall construction" should make it very light.

DarkOwnt 10-10-2006, 07:23 PM Hi All:
Sooo many exhausts.
Can anyone point me in the right direction towards the higher quality stuff that:
a. provides as much weight reduction over stock as possible while
b. as much HP increase as possible and
c. as little sound as possible
I know c and b are competing items but the best should be able to deliver the largest "HP gain to sound gain(if any)" ratio. Staying with classy... avoiding Ghetto is my goal.
PS: I love the high revs of the rotary, if a muffler out there allows more HP while letting some high pitch "scream" or jet engine like whirr (as opposed to meatier sounds) I probably would really like it. Im thinking of my friends' Kawasaki zx-6rr sportbike which redlines at 16k or so... :)
Any help would greatly be appreciated!!!
kwescott 10-11-2006, 12:13 PM the new Mazdaspeed dual muffler design is a nice option...it is much lighter than stock and provides a great sound under cruise, and aggressive sound at WOT.
I have Racing Beat, the sound is subtle, well matched to the engine...but it is heavier than stock. I've been contemplating a switch to the new Madzaspeed exhaust.
It has been stated on this thread, as well as other places, that the Mazdaspeed design is not unique, it is actually a copy of several other exhausts that were available initially when the first batch of aftermarket exhausts came out.
shaunv74 10-11-2006, 01:04 PM Go check out the racing beat website. They have a good read on all the analysis they've done on the exhaust system. There is not much to be had with just a cat back exahaust.

Search for racing beat rx8, and one should pop up. It is dark outside with snow on the ground. Someone is showing off their flames.

Nopstnz8 07-13-2007, 03:31 PM Hi everyone. I am currently deciding between two exhaust systems. They are the Autoexe Sport Muffler and the Corksport exhaust system.
Is the Autoexe a catback system?
Which one have you heard the most positive feedback about?
Also, could someone possibly find me a website that sells the Autoexe for less than $900 that is not a replica.
Thanks. Any info would be appreciated.

crapdragoon 02-21-2008, 04:13 AM Does anyone have an actual pic of the buddy club iv exhaust?
TJ2687 02-21-2008, 09:25 AM I am also curious about the rx8 HKS legamax (spelling?) exhaust, the dual exhaust one, it's kinda a toss up, i hear exhaust isn't a huge deal on the rx8 (i guess rotary changes the rules about some things) but i've also heard some exhaust like the srmotorsports exhaust has problems if you add a turbo to your car. So any info on primarily the HKS, Tanabe, or MazdaSpeed Exhaust would be awesome. Thanks in advance.
mysql 02-21-2008, 09:28 AM The legamax is a very nice sounding exhaust. It's quieter than the borla, but that's not to say that it is quiet. The borla is deper sounding however.
TJ2687 02-21-2008, 09:29 AM thanks mysql i was kinda wondering, it's funny the horsepowerfreaks site has it cheaper than if you bought directly from hks... kinda funny how things work out like that.

Spinning Sushi 07-27-2008, 02:55 AM The sound sounds different on video and yes, I used my cell phone... Also, it's late so I didn't want to wake anyone up and I was reving to about 4k while the engine's still cold and it made the pops. At the end of the video, I reved it to 4k and killed the ignition to prevent flooding since the engine's still cold just in case you're wondering what that noise at the end was. :)

Spinning Sushi 07-27-2008, 09:41 PM Ok, I found these clips of the Espelir exhaust system from Endless Rotaries (One of our Forum Vendors).
Here they are...

Saphus 07-27-2008, 10:16 PM So... Am i doing anything substantial in the fact that I just took out the MASSIVE stock muffler and ran a centermounted straightpipe? (porsche style... In a few weeks here I'm getting a rotor exhaust tip & running it straight through the rotor emblem on the lower back bumper)
Spinning Sushi 07-27-2008, 10:21 PM Less bends = more flow?
Just be careful not to melt the plastic diffuser.
dipatrx8 07-28-2008, 05:25 PM i really dont know which exhaust to buy !!! I am thinking about the rev8 or the rx8storess with the rp supercat anyone who did this on his car? i want to see a video and to know about the power that i am gonna get!!! thnx
NYC Drift King 07-28-2008, 05:57 PM I got the HKS Lemax and it's awesome. Sounds great looks good and you will feel a difference.
shadycrew31 09-17-2008, 11:35 AM I have the HKS Hi Power and if you can get over the single tipped exhaust its f*%^&&#@ beautiful. anyone have the weight of it? I guessed around 20-22 pounds.
mysql 09-17-2008, 11:52 AM ^ As with just about everything in this thread, that's a matter of opinion.
I've had the stock exhaust, borla, hks hi power, hks legamax, and turboxs, and the hi-power is the only one so horrific that I removed it from my car in less than one month of owning it. Even with the turbo, with a catless midpipe, it sounded loud and horrible.
Jedi54 02-11-2009, 12:20 PM bumpety bump!!!
(since I just answered two threads about exhausts....)
SE3P_Lovers 04-11-2009, 09:56 PM Where's I can bought this exhaust??

SayNoToPistons 07-01-2009, 01:40 AM Bump for update
matt13b 07-01-2009, 03:24 AM This is the exhaust I have(and that's my car in the clip too).
http://www.smb.net.au/fullexhaustsystems-mazdarx8.htm
I like the sound. It was only up to around 5k or 6k rpm in the clip. It has a new cat too and actually had a quantifiable power gain on the dyno which is also on the site. I don't work for them but they tell me that most of their business comes from the USA. They even have US prices on their site. Heres the you tube- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCI7DDu4aJ0
Gozza_11 07-05-2009, 12:35 PM hey guys im new to this whole forum thing? sorry if this has been covered what are the specs in terms of inch on the mazdaspeed dual exhaust?? cant seem to find it on the net anywhere...

OSSHWA 01-08-2010, 02:59 PM I want that Fabulous exhaust.....too bad you need the rear kit as well.
You sure about that? Needing the rear kit that is?
epikeddie 01-08-2010, 03:56 PM ^^^
I mean to make it look like that picture on Bulletproof's site. The exhaust tips were designed to fit nicely into the Fabulous rear bumper design.
Spiritus Sancti 01-08-2010, 06:37 PM I think the OP needs to fix the tanabe exhausts... I clicked on the hyper something and ultra. And it gives me another parts. According to their site they don't even have those any more...

chiefmg 01-08-2010, 07:32 PM Anyone know why the Magnaflow is so expensive? I got one for my Speed6, it has probably more metal in the whole system and it was less than half the price. I haven't even been able to find any place that offers it at a good discount (lowest was $890 on eBay).
Yes I know rotaries run hot, I have owned my RX-7 since 1981, but I wouldn't think that would affect the price that much for similar materials.
Darkpoison187 02-03-2010, 02:11 PM Alright I'm gonna ask it (after a few hours or lookin) I want a sound clip of an A/T 8 with the AP dual res an the SP2 catback any takers

Would imagine it sounds the same as an M/T? Unless you mean the 4 port? But even then, it shouldn't sound any different :dunno:

Spoolin8 02-03-2010, 11:32 PM will a RB dual resonated midpipe with a AP catback shoot flames?

MTspeeds1 02-06-2010, 02:02 PM does the Greddy sp2 exhaust drone?
Spoolin8 02-06-2010, 03:08 PM On a highway going 70 almost any exhaust will "drone". Some are just louder then others
MTspeeds1 02-06-2010, 03:21 PM On a highway going 70 almost any exhaust will "drone". Some are just louder then others
as far as droning "loud" goes, is the sp2 unbearable or does it still sound relatively nice?
Spoolin8 02-06-2010, 06:43 PM It will sound pretty good, I have a Agency Power exhaust and as far as drone goes its probably one of if not the loudest and i have no problem with it and i love the sound so i would guess that the SP2 would not be bad.
urbanlegendrx8 04-30-2010, 04:17 PM Does anybody have pictures of the ACTUAL Apexi Revolution Exhaust INSTALLED on a RX8??? I can't seem to get any pics or information on it anywhere in the internet!!!

WhiteFeather 09-21-2011, 08:13 PM What is the likeliness of getting in trouble over using no cat and just a midpipe? Is it not worth the risk driving it on the road? It just seems like so many people here go catless, are they just doing that for their track cars?
