View Full Version : What color is this, and hi!
SpectreRX8 06-13-2006, 09:04 PM Hey guys. Just bought this used for 20k. It's an '04 model, and I've never been happier! Problem is... we're not sure what color it is. Sometimes its blue, and sometimes its green, just depends on the lighting and the way you look at it. As far as I know no custom paintjobs were done by the previous owner. Any idea on what the color name is? Note, it was considered a blue by the dealership, and in this picture it seemed to be green.

SpectreRX8 06-14-2006, 12:35 AM Well, any ideas on mods that will increase the price of the car and make it more "zippy"? :P
SpectreRX8 06-14-2006, 12:38 AM haha yea it looks like they hit already in the 1st pic
And, no. They didn't touch. Luckily. :P
tiggerlee 06-14-2006, 12:42 AM Clear corners (http://www.mazdaparts.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=680000-1112606399) are the offical first mod for the 8. Looks better than the amber, especially on Nordic Green. ;)

Search around the forum and you'll find the same answer to making it faster. there virtually is no way without going FI. Intakes are basically worthless, exhausts you really only get for sound. Tho these items help the air flow easier, HP gains are virtually non-exsistant. Check the tires on the car. The stock Poteznas are shit and don't last long. Get yourself a set of ultra high performance summer tires and winter tires because you'll need them with this car. The resale value of this car sucks anyhow so there really is no way to increase the value unless you put a lot of money into it but then you will be losing money. The most important thing is that you have fun with the car. Mods aren't cheap. Clear corners run around $60, a intake will run around $300 and an exhaust around $600 if you have a 6 speed which I presume you do because I think I see a second oil cooler, invest in the Richard Paul short shifter, it's an awesome shifter and helps with mis-shifting.
SpectreRX8 06-14-2006, 09:52 AM Well. Im not really sure. The dealer said it was tiptronic and that he wasn't sure what the highest gear was. Keep in mind this was a Ford Dealer, not mazda. ;)
SayNoToPistons 06-14-2006, 10:02 AM just dont put stupid wild body kits on it and ugly bling bling 20 inch chrome dubs on it. people always want to buy stock cars instead of modified cars.
SpectreRX8 06-14-2006, 10:18 AM So, no bodykits?
Rootski 06-14-2006, 10:23 AM The best way to make an Automatic RX-8 quicker is to jack up the oil cap and roll an MT 8 under it.
ndtechie09 06-14-2006, 10:58 AM So, no bodykits?
key word in what he said was wild and stupid. search around, there are some nice kits but some are reallly reallly rice looking. AT eh? yeah do the MT swap. if you dont have a clutch then you have an AT. you have a 4 speed AT which produces much less HP than the MT of this car. do you know anything about rotaries? go find a good mazda dealer a round you and make sure all the recalls on done for your car go here to find out what has been recalled and check it against your vin http://www.finishlineperformance.com/rx8/bulletins_index.html

well i wouldnt say that
SpectreRX8 06-14-2006, 01:50 PM I live in LA, so I dont see the usage of a MT being as useful as a AT. Thanks for telling me about the recalls, I'll check 'em out... and no ndtechie09, I dont know much about rotaries except from the basics engine movements. Its my first "new" car.
foxman 06-14-2006, 02:03 PM dang dude, back that car up a bit, that close to the other vehicle is just asking for something bad to happen
well it's not silver :mdrmed:
SayNoToPistons 06-14-2006, 04:15 PM well i wouldnt say that
MMmmMmm brap brap brap (assuming you know what that is).
Kel Rx8 06-14-2006, 08:53 PM just have fun building it the way you want. bodykit, wheels, turbo, street port is all good options in standing out.
good luck and welcome aboard this is the captain speaking :)

Plus strakes :mdrmed:
SpectreRX8 06-14-2006, 09:30 PM Also, if you do modify the car with, for example, body kits, intakes, and other mods, does that make the Mazda warranty go void?
