Hey everyone, I know I haven’t been on the forums in a while, put I do check in every now and then. I want to let everyone know about the Wayne Mazda meet coming up in July. I am giving over a month’s worth notice of the event and would like to have a good showing of RX-8s there. Last year, I did the same thing and we were able to have 13-15 RX-8s show up. Wayne Mazda has the largest inventory of RX-8s on the east coast and their service center is by far, one of the best. They have informed me of recalls and other misc. stuff before it ever reached the forums sometimes.

This year, the meet is going to be different. I spoke with the service manager, Steve, and he told me they were given a budget and that they are going all out. A radio station is going to be coming by to host their show for 2 hours during the meet, along with BBQ and ice cream. The meet is a lot of fun guys. Last year gave us a chance to meet each other for the first time and see the progress of everyone’s cars. There was one of the first Greddy Turbos at the meet.

As more information becomes available, I will update the thread. I would like to get a recall started and I will update it as quickly as possible. Again, this is a great meet to come to. Being a member of the RX-8 Tri-State club, I informed Wayne, and we did a small write-up of the event. I will try and do the same if people would like to join the club if they haven’t already.

Chrism, that was the first time I had met you. I hope we can get everyone out. It was a great turnout last year and there is more being offered this year. Steve also informed me of two Mazda show cars that will be on displayed from Mazda that were used in the NYC auto show, if I am correct. I will get more info on that on Monday and update. Don't mean to mis-inform

That was my VR with the Greddy turbo - I am also the guy who blew his engine about 2 weeks ago running 9 lbs boost. I did have Interceptor, although I had not had car tuned properly after install.
My car was at the "New" Mothers in Lodi for 2 weeks - What a fucking nightmare - engine was damaged beyond repair and they did not want to work on car after 2 weeks. I had to have car towed to KD Rotary in PA., cost $500. But I know Dave, who is a great guy and I trust him totally. He is putting in a Mazda reman engine and will reduce boost to 7 lbs, I would rather be a little conservative than take a chance on the new engine.

Kel, I'm not surewhat they are going to do because it is supposed to be bigger than last year. It doesn't hurt to come by for an hour or 2 and hang out. The event starts early too, so you could come by and then leave by 1 and detail the rest of the day lol. You plan on going turbo soon? I remember your car being one of the first getting mods done. Interested to see where you are at now with the car. I did get the supra I always wanted. Its in the shop right now having some work done, but should be ready for the Wayne Mazda show.

CPO32, welcome to club. As we get closer to the event, I will contact Wayne from the Tri-state club and get some membership forms if you would like to join. I know there hasn't been much from the club but there are a few discounts and some upcoming meets I think.

I'm also interested in the Tri-State Club.

UPDATE:

I called over and got some new information...Meet starts at 10am. 105.5FM will be hosting 2 hours of their show at the event. I got 12 parking spots in front of where all the action will be. It was the best I could do. Everyone else will be parking near us, just not side-by-side. The event is catered BBQ. Now the cool stuff. Right now, Wayne Mazda has a Mazda financed Fox Entertainment Widebody Mazda 3 coming that tours for Mazda. They are in the process of getting Mazda to send over the first ever Mazda 3 Speed, which is not even out yet to be in attendence as well. Should be some interesting stuff. I will be getting to the event early so I can rope off the spots and even try and get some more.....

I will keep everyone posted as I get new info. Flyboi, steve said your car was looking good....

I will try and get everyone a spot together if I can. worse case is that you park next to us on a different angle. its hard to explain unless you have been to the dealership. Unfortuantely, they want to sell cars that day so parking is going to be tough. I suggested that they move the cars in the front to the back but its just too many.

The name Ariel doesn't ring a bell but I know a good number of the local supra guys. Alot of supras now a day are running Fikse wheels it seems. I will look into it. Yea i will try and daily bump this thread as well without getting it deleted.

ouch... must've been a really bad miss shift. i had 3 runs at englishtown a few weeks ago and miss shifted in all 3 runs with powershifts cuz i wanted the best time possible. i ran a 14.9 when i miss shifted 2nd , and i ran a 14.8 with a miss shift trying to powershift at 9200 in 3rd gear. Figured since i was getting a new tranny, i'd just beat the crap out of it and hopefully get 14.5 or better.. sigh

anyways..man, i'm really excited with all these events.. but i can't miss church on sunday so i'll be late for rotorfest. i can be there around 2 pm assuming my car is fixed by then... argh i really wanted to be in the 10 a.m drive from the rt 80 meeting point. now that i have the interceptor x installed, i'm curious to see what my times will be now. if my car is fixed before friday... i can go get a dyno tune *crosses finger*

u might have a hard time selling the oem exhaust... i tried to sell them for $200 and i got flamed for it. Then i tried selling it for $50 and no one would still buy it. Ppl usually just give them away if they just wanna get rid of it to save space.

anyways, i talked to ben from wayne mazda and my car wont be fixed at least until next tuesday... which means no rotorfest for me sigh... have a great time guys :rolleyes:

right now it says 30% chance of scatter t-storms during the day and 60% at night. I don't see many people staying pass 3pm, so people should have an okay time getting home from the event if it were to rain

What really sucks......The veilside valance melted, took it back to the body shop, and their fix actually was no fix at all, the damage is just as bad, if not worse.....I want a new kit....grrrr

I don't know chris. It says 50% chance of rain all day. I think there will be some rain at the event but it may not be for long. I am going to get there early to help set-up and try and rope off as many spots as I can.

I hope so man. I have been working around the clock to get my car ready for this event. The rain this week didn't allow me to detail the car the way I wanted but it should look good. I was up late finishing off some minor stuff to it and I am good to go. I will be leaving my house around 8:15 - 8:30am to get there by 9am. Right now the list is about 25 cars. I am very happy with this turn-out. I hope everyone shows up and is not afraid of the rain.

We're leaving now, and should be there by 10!

Just got off the phone with Wayne Mazda. Everything is still good to go. They are going to put a couple fo cars in doors as well just incase but everyone over there is hoping the rain holds up.

It was cool to see some 8s there all hooked up, for those that didnt meet me today I have a 05 black rx-8 stock I just bought a month ago. I dont know much about cars or much about my 8 but I had to have it when I saw it for the first time at the car show in NY a few years ago. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks to the guys who took the time to talk to me...

I dont think he was ever considered because he was considered a guest at the show for Mazda. I don't know, plus it was like it was SEMA or HIN. Signing in was also for the raffle which I provided a Jada Toy Die-Cast RX-8 Model. I left before the raffle but I will find out who the winners were on Monday.

When I got home, not 10 minutes later when the garaged closed, it began to pour with thunder and lightning. I guess I left at a good time.

first meet i went to overall it was fun, here are some pics i took though its only like 5 pics.. lol mine was the blue w/ cf hood parked next to kel.. all my minor mods arent really visable and i didnt pop the trunk as my fg project still needs minor bondo and paint.. as well as the kit has to be fitted and painted and i still need to recieve the spoiler!!

Bullrun got off to an amazing start. Times Square was shut down saturday morning, thousands of people lined the street and 120 amazing cars hit the road on the 3,500 mile journey to LA.
