sorry, didn't put an "other" category.

Just list the car you had if it is not an option in the pole.

No Toyotas? (other than the Lexus listing)

Mine was a Blue Spectra Mica 2k Celica GT-S A/T.

Car was totalled by a lady in an SUV making a U-turn in front of me. Using insurance $$ as downpayment.

there should have been a catagory for Probe Gt's- I think alot of us are switching from that car. BTW I bought the Probe because it was a Mazda/Ford. I love the Mazda engineering, but wanted to give a US company the business. I feel good about the rx-8 purchase since Ford own Mazda. I also like the fact that mazda engineers are passionate about the rotary, and worked on it even in their own spare time.

I'm coming from a Mazda MX-6, which is essentially a non-ugly probe. :)

I rather like Playboy's car review of the MX-6: "The MX-6 is like a misogynist's view of a perfect woman: beautiful to look at, handles wonderfully, and doesn't have too much power." Sound like any other car we know well?

Might wanna maintain a low profile about this Ford thing ya got goin on.:D

Toyota MR-S, preceeded by Celica 190 (190bhp - GTS in US?). Before that was an MX-6 (love the Probe comment lbrintle LOL)

Not trying to single you out, emailists, but it seems to be a common misconception that Ford owns Mazda. Ford owns a percentage of Mazda (not sure about the actual percentage, but the number that comes to mind is 33%?), but Ford doesn't "own" Mazda in the same way Ford owns Jaguar, Land Rover, and Volvo.

Oh, and to get back on topic, my vehicle before purchasing my RX-8 was a Nissan Frontier pickup (which I still have but I'm trying to sell -- anyone interested?)

My current cars are a VW Polo G40 and a TVR Tuscan S. The plan originally was to buy a car to replace the Tuscan, but I can't bring myself to sell it, so the Polo is out the window instead now, and the RX-8 will be taking it's place on the driveway. :)

'93 Nissan Maxima SE with 180,000 miles on it. It's been by far the best car that I've ever had, and as much as I like the 8, I am not going to hold my breath it will be as reliable as the Nissan has been over the last ten years. I'm selling it to a friend because I think that it has more value left in it than the economic value that I can get for it on the open market. I mean the trade in is pretty much nothing.

Chipped VW 1.8T - a ton of fun quite frankly. Unfortunately, can't get all the power to the ground in a FWD vehicle...but the handling (with mods) was quite good.

Like the RX8 SOOOO MUCH BETTER!

When i get my Blue 8 in a couple of weeks it will replace my Dads handme down: 76' Datson (Nissan) 280Z. The car still runs great just lacks AC and power i wanted, let alone the room for more than 1 passenger. It won't be sold or traded as it has too much sentimental value for my dad and i to let it go.

The 280Z is a classic too. Great car!

No option for me to vote on my super duper Dodge 1998 NEON (SOHC version of course). but it was the 2 door! I actually see it every day since I sold it to my roomate :D Put about 80K miles on it over 5 1/2 years while I saved up for soemthign worthwhile.

Not a bad little car, but it's a *bleargh* automatic NEON fro gods sake.

Volvo 960 -- Drive Safely :D

Keeping the Volvo -- only 9 years old and 106,000k -- in Volvo years this is still like a brand new car. Interior and exterior still look like they did the day I bought it.

2003 mazda 6i

bought it with 40k miles in 06 and got ran into by a family that failed to yield properly at a stop sign. Very gay accident, but at least I have an rx8!

I got that friggin 6 to 87k miles and I redlined that bitch throughout each day. I drove the hell outta that car and put over 40k in less than 2 years! Very solid car and I have no doubts it woulda lasted to 150k+.

Little red Mazda 323 gets 36 miles to the gallon and we kept her because she still can tote 2 bales of hay and 3 bags of feed, or 12 big black bags of trash, or five bags of raw cement, or 8 potted trees... The Blue 8 is for driving, the red 323 is for chores....

black 05 Mustang GT....No regrets!

almost bought that before i bought my 8. everyone, including some mustang owners said i made the better choice with the 8.

before my 8 i had a 88 Toyota Supra Targa. it was totaled after a drug dealer slammed into me.

before the Supra i had an 87 RX-7 TurboII and an 86 RX-7 GXL

Before the Stang I had an 89 Toyota Supra targa! Charcoal gray 5 spd. My son has it now!

I traded the Stang for 2 reasons. #1 was that @ 17K miles the rear end had to be replaced, and @ 20k it was whining again. Reason #2 was that I missed the handling that my supra had. It's the closest thing I've ever driven to having the capabilities that the 8 does.
