After owning the RX8 for a month, I think i've finally caught the RX8 virus! I've beening finding every single possible excuse to drive the car, like driving 20km one way to buy a SUB for lunch, or going to a 7-11 20 mins away cause the lottery tickets there are "luckier" or recycling the empty bottles twice a week instead of once a month, or even volunteer to drive a friend 3 hours away to check out a used car and that wanted to buy ( or look at)..

am I the only one who caught this virus?? when will the symptoms go away because at this rate I won't be able to afford the medicine ( read: Gas)

You can minimize the symptoms if you drive slow, shift below 4K and ignore the car....

It doesn't work for me but you could try.

The minute I sat into my RX-8 (not on the test-drive, after the paperwork when it was *mine) I inhaled the new-car-smell deeply and embraced a new outlook on driving. No more rusty, crusty Subaru wagon - not even in the winter. The RX-8 is a car I enjoy driving - 9 months, 11,000 fantastic miles.

Glad you're enjoying yours.

this 'virus' you speak of, is the sole reason i am still sane, when i fight through my hell that is my morning commute every day.

I think having another car as a daily driver makes me appreciate my 8 a lot more. I drive a 96 Maxima 4-5 times a week to work and on the weekends I drive my 8. If I drove my 8 seven days a week I don't think I would enjoy it as much and I would prabably get sick of it after a couple of years and end up trading it in. Not to mention I would be spending an arm and a leg for gas.

Daily driver for me - lets see, I'm at 43K on the oddie - I've been sick for quite a while I guess :)

ditto...dayly driver and I also just broke 43k....

beware....reving to 8500rpm everyday makes the virus worse. :)

Uhhh ... I think I got the RX virus a year before the car came out. I think it's some sort of STD (possibly communicable even by looking at pictures of it). I don't believe that there is a cure for this.

I have had this disease since 2000 when i saw the car in testing stages, the virus became worse when i saw how much they were selling them for, much cheaper than i thought, Now the virus is full blown as i just picked up my 2006 galaxy grey last monday :)

Beats having other viruses...

It could be worse: you could like Alfas.

i've had the virus for a 1 month, then i went and bought it. In a period of three months, after trying every stunt i knew, using a new set of tires, and doing 10000km of only week end driving, i found not driving the rx8 harder than quitting smoking. Now taking a year off to save up on insurance and get me out of my financial struggles. Unfortunately i bought the car while still living at my parents. I found driving the car harder to afford when i moved out.

I also caught this strain of the Asian flu and find absurd excuses to run errands. I'm finding driving enjoyable again instead of just another of life's drudgeries.

I am in the same boat as everyone else. I caught the virus fast. I have had the car 10 months and put on 27,500Km already

How true, my friend, the little "beep"...
Having a daily driven '05 Brilliant Black (14k miles) also brings on the side effect of wiping it down just to go to work... Hopeless.

I'm already hooked and haven't even heard the beep or anything close to it. Only picked up the car on monday night so it's going to be a long 1000km keeping in under 4k RPM!!

As for wiping it down...tell me about it. Have had the car approx 40 hours and have already washed it when I got home from work yesterday, due to the rain yesterday ;) I think I need to go get some Zaino. My girlfriend will not like the fact she'll be number 2 for a while

In the winter I probably wash my car 3 times a week. In the summer 1-2 times. I can't stand it when my car is dirty.

Yep, had my car just over two years, with around 43,000 kms on it, and I still have the virus.

No cure in sight for me!
