But i can understand why they choose the miata... the loss of the rx7 and the long wait for the rx8 would make the miata a right choice. Most non tuners would answer miata if they where asked the question "which car represents mazda?"

IMO, a Halo is supposed to be an icon, something that represents just how good a car company can be. If that's the case, I would argue the Miata is a great halo car. And if a Halo is the best a car company can offer, regardless of price of the car, than I'd hope they can at least meet their sales expectations.

It is hardly a flagship car, that would be the Mazda 6 or the Mazda 3.
