View Full Version : you must be drunk or in a stolen car
mikeb 06-01-2006, 12:03 PM I got pulled over last night 1am
the cop said he had to do 100 to catch me
i was doing 75 in a 40 like a idiot
it was late and i was speeding home
the cop called for three back up cop cars because he said
you must be drunk or driving a stolen car to be driving like that
well i wasnt drunk but i was driving pretty bad
he only wrote me up for 60 in a 45
I hate traffic school
does insurance really go up that much from a ticket
DOMINION 06-01-2006, 12:18 PM OMG That sucks
DOMINION 06-01-2006, 12:19 PM Oh my car ins. did not go up ;)
Cool-Blue-Dad 06-01-2006, 12:21 PM Did you get nabbed by a CHiP, sheriff or city police? Radar or paced? The CHiPs don't clock you from the aircraft at night, right?
Was he cool once he talked to you and found that you were cool (must have been at least partially cool to knock it down to '60 in a 45)'? Chasing you down at 100mph could have been his best thrill of the night since you turned out to be no real problem.
Did you explain the obligation of all RX-8 owners to drive it like they stole it? I'm guessing not. ;)
I can't say about the insurance - hopefully your policy is generous/forgiving or they'll not hear about it if you go to traffic school.
I had a CHiP chase my mustang down with his mustang back in `92. Like in your case, it was 'my bad'. I'd been driving this one stretch of freeway across the Mojave desert in the daily rush-hour commute at 75mph+ for months. Never saw the CHiPs interfere with flow-of-traffic ever. Then one evening I'm late, on my way to an early evening college class for which I am also late and lo-and-behold - the straight, flat freeway was utterly empty! I could go way faster than 75! So I did. My 1980 mustang only had an 85mph speedometer, but it was long since pegged. Imagine my surprise to see a car growing rapidly in my rearview mirror. I figured it out just before he put on his lights.
I pulled right over and the CHiP was completely cool about it. "Late for class, eh? Slow it down and get there safely. Go on, shoo!" I'll be he far exceed 100mph to run me down like I was already stopped - must have been the highlight of his day.
I'm glad you didn't get any big trouble from your incident.
mikeb 06-01-2006, 01:01 PM yeah it was a regular cop not a motorcycle cop
normally motorcycle cops are not so nice
the guy did like my car
i heard him and the others
is it a rx7 no its a rx8
anyways i admitted to driving like a idiot and the cop liked that and gave me a break
chr1s 06-01-2006, 01:14 PM ok where can I get more videos of the bouncing boobs babe?
//not a perv, just a man. ;)
Skythe 06-01-2006, 01:18 PM Speeding tickets tend to inflate your monthly premium by 20-30 bucks a month...at least that's from what i've seen.
Jedi54 06-01-2006, 01:22 PM ouch, that sucks mike. What city were you in?
mikeb 06-01-2006, 01:39 PM i was in anaheim hills
if my insurance only goes up 20 bucks a month i dont care
i hate traffic school
the ticket was totally deserved
i always drive to fast
HiTMaNN 06-01-2006, 01:46 PM That sucks our Insurance is owned by the crown (Government) so our rates don't inflate with violation tickets.
phroztbyt3 06-01-2006, 02:25 PM get a radar.... if u speed.. its just obvious 2 buy 1.
late8 06-01-2006, 04:50 PM Did the cop give you a hard time for no front plate while he was writing you up? I'm just assuming by your avatar that you are still running without one. What pisses me off is a cop pulling me over and giving me more grief and piling on a $100 fine because I have no front plate.
chr1s 06-01-2006, 04:54 PM maybe I should have been more specific. Dominion, where can I get more pics of the chick in your sig. :-P
ScreaminRX8 06-01-2006, 04:54 PM I am just glad that here in Alabama we don't have to have front plates! Sorry to hear that man but it could have been worse so good job fessin up.
mikeb 06-01-2006, 05:18 PM i got lucky
no front plate ticket
no exhaust or aem intake ticket
no lowered ticket
the cop that pulled me over and his buddies that showed up after really liked my car
the cop was even asking me what i do for a living

When you're cool with them it increases the chance of them being cool with you, but no guarantees.
HiTMaNN 06-01-2006, 05:32 PM I guess when you told him about your brothel house and the seven crack houses under your name he must have been ecstatic :)
mikeb 06-01-2006, 05:41 PM im always very polite to cops
no reason for me to be rude
im not dumb and i know when i need to respect someone

Cool. I've been in the background on this forum for a while and I have followed your car as you did your mods and I'm sure the cops were just as impressed with your attitude as well as your sharp car.
Cattywampus 06-01-2006, 06:16 PM Nice.

Wow that was some Grade A ass kissing I give you a 10!
And good call Mike being an asshole to cops just makes them even more mad.

What's up hitman? Ain't getting much amour lately?
HiTMaNN 06-01-2006, 07:22 PM What does me getting laid have anything to with your ass kissing?
late8 06-01-2006, 07:38 PM What does me getting laid have anything to with your ass kissing?
Who said anything about getting laid? Besides, when does complementing a fellow forum members ride constitute as "ass kissing?"
HiTMaNN 06-01-2006, 07:44 PM Just the way you said it sounded kind of stalkerish
"I Have been lurking in the background Mike BUT FINALLY I have decided to come out of the closet and show my true love for you"
Amour
n : a usually secretive or illicit sexual relationship
late8 06-01-2006, 07:47 PM Lol
\\Konig\\ 06-01-2006, 09:33 PM Bored cops suck. 78 in a 65. Funny thing is it was the same chp in the same area who pulled me over for having a tint on my side windows (35%). He recognized my car too. Ugh...
Aratinga 06-02-2006, 12:41 AM mike, you can do the traffic school thing online now; you don't have to go to some stupid class and be bored all day long. The online traffic school is totally easy; read the info, take the quiz, go on to the next section... all at your own pace. If you do that the ticket won't go on your record and your insurance company will never know about it.
BigOLundh 06-02-2006, 12:48 AM Your insurance will probably go down for taking the driver safety class. I know it does when we do it here.

Winfree 06-02-2006, 01:08 AM The big break was you didn't give them an O.J. Simpson/ Rodney King type chase - the more they get to chase you and the more back-up they call in the more the hunting pack mentality kicks in and someone will want blood! As it was, it was just a couple of good old boys who wanted to admire your car. They claim "beauty always walks".
definitesuave 06-02-2006, 01:23 AM for speeding tickets and how to get out of them go to
www.tipmra.com
I just want to give
props to mike
for his longest posts
EVAR!
mikeb 06-02-2006, 08:30 AM late8
thanks for the kind words
as far as online traffic school
i thought that is only for some cities not all right
Coop '04 06-02-2006, 10:06 AM Defensive Driving school is a state thing, not by city. So the state has it or doesn't and I would be surprised if California didn't have it. You should definitely get it online it's much easier.
Photic 06-02-2006, 12:21 PM Your insurance shouldn't go up if you take traffic school.
As long as you don't get another ticket within 18 months of traffic school it will fall off and be like you had never gotten the ticket.
Cool-Blue-Dad 06-05-2006, 03:06 PM Thanks to mikeb I searched and found http://www.DrivingUniversity.com with Google. My insurance company, USAA, confirmed they would accept such an online defensive driving course and would lower my rates.
The cost $29.95 each for my wife and I: $59.90 total
The savings: $52.02 per 6 month period for 3 years: $312.12 total
I wouldn't have thought to look for an online course which would give me an insurance discount without this thread so thanks to mikeb and thanks to all who enriched the discussion.
Meanwhile, I love this quote from the start of their training:
The State allows you the PRIVILEGE OF DRIVING, not the RIGHT TO DRIVE. You earn the privilege of a driver's license by preparing yourself to be a safe driver, and you keep the privilege by practicing safe driving habits. Do not expect to be behind the wheel of a car if you can't remember basic road signs. Do not expect to be touring the countryside if you don't bother to practice your skills enough to pass the driving test. And don't expect to keep your license if you flaunt the laws and act recklessly. Nobody has the right to endanger other lives. The State, however, has every right and obligation to revoke your driving privileges. If you are a threat to other drivers, the State doesn't want you on the road. If you are a helpful, courteous driver, however, the State welcomes you.
abbid 06-05-2006, 03:11 PM When i got taxed for 89 in a 65, my insurance went up 19 dollars a month.
zoom44 06-05-2006, 05:27 PM the cop was even asking me what i do for a living
impersonate Lou;) only he's a little taller :)
Jedi54 06-05-2006, 06:03 PM As long as you don't get another ticket within 18 months of traffic school it will fall off and be like you had never gotten the ticket.
A common misconception in California. Do a search on the dmv's site and you can see that in California they have the option for a "level 2" class. (it's a two day class: Saturday & Sunday) This is available to those who have had a ticket or gone to school in less then 18 months. The V.C. says it is completely up to the judge's discretion though.
Paul_in_DC 06-05-2006, 06:17 PM You got off pretty lucky. It's good you were reasonable with the cop. I'd bet the "Owning up to your mistakes" thing probably calmed him down considerably. A 35-mph-over-the-limit ticket would have been REALLY bad...
