While standing beside the car at lunchtime today, I noticed that I've incurred my first door ding - a slight crease on the wheel arch above the right rear wheel, apparently from someone's rear passenger door. Hardly noticeable, but of course now I'll notice it all the time. Oh well.

I've never had a new car before and a colleague seriously suggested that I deliberately put a minor scratch on my RX-8 on day 1 just to get it over with. I see his point but I'll take my chances thanks...

That first little ding, scratch, or rock chip is the worst. I think my all-time record for a new car surviving without one is ... uh ... one week. :)
