i just sheared both bolts on one of my stock endlinks while autocrossing with the racing beat front swaybar, if you have this swaybar then get the bigger endlinks that racing beat sells, its worth it. cheers.

View Full Version : disclaimer: stock endlinks w/ rb bar... brattesani 05-28-2006, 08:13 PM i just sheared both bolts on one of my stock endlinks while autocrossing with the racing beat front swaybar, if you have this swaybar then get the bigger endlinks that racing beat sells, its worth it. cheers. dsmdriver 05-29-2006, 10:51 AM BOTH bolts? How can you do this? Once one bolt in the system fails there is no more stress on anything else in the system. Just wondering if something else may have gone wrong... Razz1 05-30-2006, 12:02 AM Remember when modding do research. Usually one mod can't be done, it needs the compliment of another mod. brattesani 05-30-2006, 12:23 AM edit: i looked under my car and noticed that one bolt got sheared and is still halfway on the endlink and the other bolt + the blue endlink connecter thingy is still bolted on the car not connected to anything. dsmdriver 05-30-2006, 09:16 AM Razz1, many people are running the stock endlinks in autocross and road racing with no problems. Maybe someone needs to do a search ;) Thanks for the update Brattesani- That makes a lot more sense. First thing you need to do is lose that bar... No way you will make that work in BS trim. I have to wonder if one of the bolts came loose and then broke. I know of a few people that have had the endlinks bolts work loose, then they can move around and I could see one break then. I have never heard of any autox/road race/etc car have a factory link fail. Even if this was a weak area I would much rather have a nice cheap end link fail than a control arm issue after you drill out the stock hole. brattesani 05-30-2006, 04:02 PM yeah we realized that the bar was to stiff about 5 days after we got it and ordered the mazdaspeed bar. i got faster times after the endlink fell off. the mazdaspeed bar uses stock endlinks, yes? mp5 05-30-2006, 09:38 PM i got faster times after the endlink fell off. the mazdaspeed bar uses stock endlinks, yes? Yes, stock endlinks. If you are not already in the Mazdapeed motorsports program, you should sign up and get your new endlink through them. Could have saved your money.... Joe G is putting the BS smack down on a stock bar. :dunno: There is such a small difference from stock to MS not worth the money imho. |
