I'm not sure if I'll attend BMW on the 24th, or ER on the 25th... Its too early to say right now.
Hope to see some other 8s out this month :)

The Mighty Red 05-28-2006, 05:55 PM I'll try to make as many as I can!
dmorales 05-28-2006, 10:50 PM The only one I might be able to make is the 24th,but like you said too early to tell. I'm kind of have some ther financial responsibilites to take care of about that time, soooo I dont know but I wish I could.

The Mighty Red 05-31-2006, 11:57 AM Really good tire for STU class - Falken Azenis RT-615
yes? no? know something better? Team, what are you running?
BigOLundh 05-31-2006, 10:13 PM Thats what i'm running... and i like em
They wear out quick tho. I think the tread wear is rated at 200. If you have a dedicated set of track wheels, it should be fine... but if not, you may be pretty pissed after just 1 year.
The Mighty Red 05-31-2006, 10:33 PM Thanks. I think I just might give the Falkens a try.
Hell, my OEM tires only lasted nine months!! I'm not too worried about that. I was thinking about running V710s but I don't want to mess with switching back and forth all the time. I'll just get a good set of wheels and street tires and stay STU.
Besides, it'll be fun to drive around town on a fast set of wheels and tires. Even if it does cost $1000 a year. It's no worse than buying a new set of V710s each season - and you can't even use those every day.
See you at the next race in about 10 days.
BigOLundh 05-31-2006, 10:38 PM i would suggest investing in a $80 low profile hydraulic-racing jack.
It'll make switching wheels much easier.

BigOLundh 06-05-2006, 11:54 PM Results from the last ER Autocross have been posted.
This is from the May 28th Race at Pennington Field.

I should of been in TSM, but it was too late to make the correction by the time i noticed. Nonetheless I need to get my sh*t straight, and start driving faster. Oh well... i'll get another chance this sunday with PCA.

The Mighty Red 06-06-2006, 03:35 PM Heck yes you do. You totally need to show me what that turbo on Azenis will do!
Last night, I registered for this weekend's PCA event. Today, I made other preparations... (sorry for the crappy quality cell phone camera)
CosmosMpower 06-06-2006, 05:04 PM Guess I'll see some of you guys at the BMWCCA and NTS2KOC autocrosses. I might drive the S for both events though, it's much more fun.
The Mighty Red 06-06-2006, 10:00 PM Come on down. Look for me if/when you go.
AustinMini 06-07-2006, 01:33 PM Hey Mightly Red,
This is the guy with the red miata from the last LSCBMW autocross. I am going to PCA this weekend with the RX-8, gonna try out the RT-615. See you there.
The Mighty Red 06-07-2006, 03:24 PM I am going to PCA this weekend with the RX-8, gonna try out the RT-615. See you there.
I'll be watching for you.
My next set of tires will be the RT-615s. I wish I had gotten those in the first place instead of these lame General Exclaim UHPs. Live and learn.
BigOLundh 06-07-2006, 10:21 PM You can't go wrong with the general.
LOL!!!
BigOLundh 06-08-2006, 01:52 AM The pics from the May 28th ER Race at Penn Field have been posted...

Looks like he has pics posted of all the RX-8s that were there.

The Mighty Red 06-08-2006, 12:00 PM Excellent! Thanks. I was wondering where those were.
Michael 06-08-2006, 08:56 PM Dont suppose I'll be seeing anyone at the LSRPCA DE at TWS in College Station this weekend, eh?
BigOLundh 06-09-2006, 01:15 AM For those of you that have not seen the Pyramid of Speed Diagram...

Well, just to let yall know... Michael rules over us all. Damn Track Whore!!!
I was fully intending to hit a few track days this year, but the finances just weren't there. Hopefully i can begin next year.

Well if I can get MY finances in order I'll hit some autocrosses after August 1st. I've never done a maverick region one. The only reason I do DE's is that they're a lot more bang for the buck and that's the choice for the rest of my family. I haven't resigned myself to solely DE's, as I'm going to an Autox on the 18 at the houston police academy.
As for Mike the Vette guy, I'm actually mike the former tacoma guy or even mike the former SC400 guy. :D:
And for a lot of old timers at these LSRPCA DE's, I'm Mike the "why does that ferrari have mazda emblems" guy.
BigOLundh 06-11-2006, 02:09 AM today we live, tomorrow we race...
lock and load boys. its time to party.

The Mighty Red 06-11-2006, 05:48 PM My best time was 39.108 - my 5th (and last) run. I beleive Harry beat me by like 5/100th of a second or something. I'll check that when results post.
Then, on the "fun runs" afterwards... I go and do a 38.7 which might have been the fastest RX8 time for this event. Too bad it didn't count (though they do keep track and post them on their website).
Now if I could just remember how I did it and copy it consistently..
Next event ---- NEXT SUNDAY!
June 18, SCCA at Texas Motor Speedway Bus Lot

BigOLundh 06-11-2006, 11:58 PM Good to see the other RX-8s out there. This time we had 4 in an event that overall was really small. Excellent.
I'm glad i did the fun runs. I now have a really good understanding of what my weakest link is... time to test it out next week.
BTW, next week will be my last race before i have to retire for the season. Hope to see you all out there.

AustinMini 06-12-2006, 10:33 AM It was great meeting you Harry. :) Best of luck in Hawaii!
Mightly Red, congrats on the great run! I will see you at the next BMWCCA autocross.
CosmosMpower 06-12-2006, 06:15 PM Nice meeting you RX8 guys, it was my first time to autocross my 2 month old 8 yesterday completely bone stock with 2500 miles on it.
I ran a 39 flat tying the turbo WB (WB are the fastest) and slightly edging out the red one with koni/teins/245 tires as well as the black one with 245 Falken RT615. Car felt good but definetely needs more rear tire and some konis but definetely a good platform to start.
BigOLundh 06-12-2006, 08:51 PM Good to see you two out there as well.
This thread is a good example of how you dont have to have slicks, turbos, coilovers, etc, etc... to have fun at an autocross. If you ever been curious to autocross, come with what you have... good times.

Exactly, autocross is for fast drivers. I've done a few years of autocross mostly with BMWCCA and NTS2KOC in my last car a BMW M3 and my girlfriend's S2000 and i'm looking forward to doing some more events in the 8. Hopefully i'll see you guys out there next time.
BigOLundh 06-12-2006, 11:20 PM Exactly, autocross is for fast drivers.Thats not what i meant by any means, but you are correct... the driver will win the race, not the car.
What i meant in my earlier post is that Autocrossing is fun, regardless if you win/lose... it all just depends on your attitude. If someone only finds fun in winning... thats pretty lame. Personally for me, the real enjoyment is the learning process, and also seeing other people grow as drivers as well.
One of our friends came out last season in a bone stock civic, and put up ridiculous slow times... but he had a great time, and loved it. That was really awesome to see. Its a wonderful break from usually seeing the exact opposite attitude.

BigOLundh 06-15-2006, 12:25 AM BUMP.. race this sunday. Once again... this will be my last one for the year, and last one here in North Texas.
I'm pretty excited :)

The Mighty Red 06-18-2006, 08:52 PM Regrettably, I was unable to attent the SCCA AutoX today. I wanted to be there but "things" got in the way.
So how was it?
BigOLundh 06-18-2006, 09:30 PM It was good. The usual 8s were there, and things went smoothly. It didnt rain today, but it was hotter than all hell.
Bernard (aka goodstick) came to hang out, and I think he caught the Autocross Fever. Expect to see him out there pretty soon.
I couldn't get my head into the game... too much rambling around up there, but nonetheless i was able to put up some decent times. I was only .2 seconds behind my benchmark today, which is a lot better than before.
And that was my last one... time to start taking the car apart and prepping it for shipping. It was a good run, and i can't wait to get started again.

BigOLundh 06-21-2006, 12:49 AM Pics from Sunday.
In the first pic you can see Bernard in the passenger seat.

The Mighty Red 06-21-2006, 02:29 PM Looks like it must have been fun with plenty of room to get up some speed.
BigOLundh 06-21-2006, 10:46 PM Yup, TMS is a great place to race.
Raptor2k 06-22-2006, 01:08 PM interesting stuff
goodstick 06-22-2006, 05:41 PM Thanks for the ride H...I had a blast out there. I just wanted to catch a glimpse of his machine and he gives me the full treatment including a ride. What a guy...what a guy :ylsuper:

The Mighty Red 06-29-2006, 09:18 AM You going to post those videos for us to see?
I guess it's time to start the July Races thread...
justjoshin8888 06-29-2006, 05:18 PM yea, i have an RX8 too. it's the 4speed AT 05' Nordic Green Mica. it's stock but not for long. about to buy and intake but don't know which 1 yet. either the AEM cold air intake or the Racing Beat REVi intake.
CosmosMpower 06-29-2006, 05:45 PM TMS is pretty fun but can suck if you have bad street tires, the surface really favors grippy street/r compound tires. I ran last saturday with BMWCCA out there and seemed to do ok except for a skidpad around 1 single cone. Came in about 3/10th of a second behind another RX8 with konis, springs, boltons and 275 all around Falken RT615 tires (basically an all-out STU car) and i'm bone stock. Can't wait for some OTS konis, an alignment and some good wheels/tires.

And yes... start the july thread already :)
CosmosMpower 06-30-2006, 09:05 AM do you realize that this makes you sound like an ass?
I see your point but I just wanted to point out that maybe the community should stop spending thousands of dollars modding their cars and get more seat time to get to know the car before they try and upgrade. Maybe a few organized DE's or autocross schools would be fun and beneficial to everyone and give a true appreciation for the handling/balance. There are way too many people obsessed about 300 dollar intakes and strut bars that give little to no gains for the car.
BigOLundh 06-30-2006, 07:16 PM meh, i think people can mod how they want. Practice will be the best gain... but in the meantime you could do whatever you want to your car... i really won't care.
plus, 90% of the population that mods... does not race.

True, but what's the point of adding performance enhancers if you're not going to use them? I understand cosmetics etc or show cars are one thing but adding intakes/midpipes/turbo kits/suspension and then not using it seems pointless. Also the RX8 isn't the best daily driver so if you never take the car to an autocross or track day you'll never see how great it really is.

So, what's the point of adding stuff if your not going to use it? I dont know... nor do i care.
Heres a good example... how big is the competition racing sub-forum, in comparison to every other forum on this board? See... not everyone is a racer, that is just not everyones thing. A lot of people just like having a car that is fun to drive, some people just bought the car because they like the looks, and some other people probably bought it for some other reason that is also none of my biz.

I think you're the one that's out of touch with reality, or maybe you just don't read carefully. I didn't say that people that don't race SHOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THIS CAR. I just said people that want to put intakes/midpipes/suspension on the car should put it to good use. If someone wanted to buy the car and only drive it from their house to the grocery store and it never saw a second of track time in it's life that's fine by me. Just pretend to be cool and clog up a local forum with talk about adding PERFORMANCE ADDING MODS like turbo kits and tein colovers, MS strutbars etc if you never plan on using them.
By the way the racing forum is about the same size as show and shine, are you saying that most people that buy these cars never wash them either?
BigOLundh 07-02-2006, 06:21 PM I just said people that want to put intakes/midpipes/suspension on the car should put it to good use.just so we are clear, clarify for me what you mean by 'good use'?
The Mighty Red 07-02-2006, 11:26 PM just so we are clear, clarify for me what you mean by 'good use'?
You know.. like using them to put Civic owners in their place... hehhe.
Eh-hem. never mind me. Carry on.
