Bummer, but I saw it today...a wrecked black RX-8.

The story: I saw it sitting behind my dealer today so I figured I'd ask about it. Ends up it was the car he ordered for himself. It had just come in and he was letting a guy test drive it. The fool pulled out in front of a truck and wham! The backend is scrunched right up to the rear window almost. It offered a nice view of the muffler though.
The car had less than 20 miles on it. Of course I took my camera out of the car yesterday. I'll try to get a picture this week and post it.

BTW, the guy went ahead and bought a silver one off the showroom floor. Probably fealt guilty.

So how did the suicide door design hold up to the impact? Can you give some guesses regarding speed, location, point of impact, integrity of the frame and passenger safety base on this ONE incident? Judging by the fact that the driver got out of the car and went back in to buy a new car..... I assume he's not hurt?

Both people came out fine. I should have got a closer look. I'll go this week and try and get a couple pics and more details as well.

It appears the car is fine from the rear window forward.

Praise the lord for collision insurance! For the past ten years, every car that a member of my family has racked up has had less than 6 weeks on it.

Personally, I believe that driving a new car is the most dangerous time in its life because you aren't used to the way it drives yet, and that leads to dangerous drives.

What a way to test the safety feature of the car before one decide to purchase it. :D

The guy must be pretty please with the safety features of the 8.

Not a very good pic they had plastic covering most of the damage and it was getting dark.

Ouuch! That looks very nusty! Why is the whole roof droped to aside? Looks as if the car had turn over as well!!

I can barley tell that is an 8. If it weren't for the tail lights than there would be almost no indication of what it is (was).

Sorry the pic is so bad, it looked better before I posted it. That is actaully the bumper that was laid on top of the car. The car is perfect from the rear window forward, at least visually. I found out that the car was hit from the right rear side and ripped straight across the back area. I thought it was rear ended.

I'm not saying its a bad pic. The time of day and condition of the car contribute to the difficulty of identifying the car.
