okay... finally got a little update

Trussville Mazda do not have black in stock, do not plan to restock, and do not know who they can refer us to...

Any one that plan to do a group buy that can match/beat Trussville's price?

My US interface with Mazda defintely does not like the part numbers (invalid part numbers for us dealers here in the states), which means I can't order it from Mazda US. I'll snoop around Mazda tomorrow and see what the word is.

That is because MazdaUSA did not release it here... I assumed you knew that...

Yes I figured as much. I'll do some investigation. What was trussville selling it for?

it is still on their site, but only Black/Chaparral is listed, same price though

Sorry guys - Yes I am new to this, and no I did not know this was Trussville's own space. Certainly did not mean to intrude. If anyone knows the admin, ask him to check his email. I have made repeated attempts to get info on becoming a sponsoring vendor with no reply. Good luck on your quest for the shift knob.

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has had an illuminated shift knob fitted to their RX8? If so, I would like to know if I need to install a relay into the fuse box.
I would also like to know if the knob stays illuminated all the time or only when the driving lights are on?

You don't have to install a relay.

It taps into the 12v plugin under the ash tray console.

Polak did a DIY on it:

Must be for looks... I can't imagine anyone having to look at their shifter to see the gear pattern,, even in the dark!!! hehehehe,, sorry i just had to say it.

It is more for the people that don't drive the car often enough to know the shift pattern like the back of their hand.

Examples: service techs, significant others...

And it has a polished look to it.

Too bad it doesn't light up the gear that it is in. :dunno:

Sorry we do not carry the shift knobs anymore. We got these out of the UK back in 2005. We really had more problems than we needed. The wire was just long enough to plug in. So what happen they pull out of the knob alot so no more light.

Great,,,now people can only drive in daylight. So they can look down and see the shift pattern on the knob

I was only giving you a bad time.

It is good that vendors watch out for those that are looking for those rare parts.

MedCenterMazda mentioned they do not carry it anymore so it is fair game for the few that do carry it. :yesnod:

MedCenterMazda can delete the post if they thought it was stepping on their turf.

MedCenterMazda has some nice stuff. :wavey:
