Nemesis8 05-17-2006, 12:06 PM They don't use the rear of the MS kit do they?
alfy28 05-17-2006, 12:22 PM woot yamada is driving the rx8. for the ones who dont know him, he drives the dodge viper for drift series.
XDEEDUBBX 05-17-2006, 12:24 PM dam didn't notice that rear bumper...anyone know what kind of rims they are running?
Phlash 05-17-2006, 12:42 PM When we asked about the rear MS rear bumper at Barber last year they told us that the fuel cell setup couldn't be set up right with it.
cjkim 05-17-2006, 01:08 PM woot yamada is driving the rx8. for the ones who dont know him, he drives the dodge viper for drift series.
oh yes, and what a viper it is. I was there the day one of the 240's from the other pro drifters T boned his viper... :Eyecrazy:
the 240 looked totaled, the viper looked almost unscratched haha
then he proceeded to climb the fences -_-
XDEEDUBBX 05-17-2006, 01:11 PM no wonder they arent running the MS bumper, I guess the fuel cell sticks out that much that it hits it.
XDEEDUBBX 05-17-2006, 01:27 PM here are some other pics of NOB and his cars:

Rootski 05-17-2006, 02:48 PM Fuel Cell? Hmm? Does that thing run on hydrogen?
Josche 05-17-2006, 02:55 PM They qualified 7th but due to fuel problems Nob dropped to 9th and Tarzan dropped to 11th =( .
I watched this race (finally got tired of not having the Speed Channel. Was it clear why they thought they were experiencing fuel problems? It was extremely hot (105 degrees F in the shade). I wonder if that had anything to do with it.
XDEEDUBBX 05-17-2006, 02:57 PM hydrogen? what the?
apotocki 05-17-2006, 03:03 PM Anyone have any high res pics of the SpeedSource 8's? I'd like to have a good one for my background.
Thanks
BlueEyes 05-17-2006, 03:05 PM Fuel Cell? Hmm? Does that thing run on hydrogen?
A fuel cell is where the gasoline goes.
jonyjoe 05-17-2006, 03:18 PM Cool pics.....I must say!!

here's a link to their website.. http://www.speedsourceinc.com/index...1505§ion=ss
zoned 05-17-2006, 04:00 PM yep, nice pics. unfortunately, they got spanked by a couple of rsx's in that race. wonder if they ever figured out that fuel issue.
Rootski 05-17-2006, 04:47 PM A fuel cell is where the gasoline goes.
Well, where I'm from, we call it a tank.
XDEEDUBBX 05-17-2006, 04:59 PM they are running fuel cells.
Bindon 05-17-2006, 05:11 PM Fuel Cells are different then fuel tanks, but both hold gasoline.
Moostafa29 05-17-2006, 05:38 PM Cool pics!
yamada also drives the cyber evo. and last week came back from pheonix from time attack and got 1st, 2nd place was over 7-9 seconds behind. =O
coldnoodle 05-18-2006, 12:41 AM Nice to see so many coverages on the 8. There are more pics on the modified.com

Xantium 05-18-2006, 12:52 AM Well, where I'm from, we call it a tank.
LOL....
The difference is a fuel cell is designed to be resistant to puncture and resistant to explosions or leaking. Note that I didn't say IMMUNE but resistant. Basically a "fuel tank" is a big abs plastic tank while a fuel cell is usually aluminum.. sometimes double layered, and filled with a special foam that the fuel seeps into. In race cars it often means the difference between life or death although the clothing and helmets these guys wear are absolutly amazing. Could practicly take a swim in a volcano. Getting off topic but this is why "car" helmets are so much more expensive than motorcycle helmets.. its the flame retardant properties of a sn2005 (car) helmet VS a M (motorcycle) helmet.
L8APEX 05-18-2006, 07:03 AM The Speedsource guys are running Racing Hart wheels.
Another reason they said they did not use the MS rear bumper, is because it is two pieces, not one like the front, so when they get hit in the rear by another car, they would have to replace the rear bumper, then graft on the MS rear, too much of a PITA, with as much parts replacing they do. While we were in their paddock area last year at Barber, they were putting the front of the #68 back together after a run in with some armco.
Can't wait to meet the new drivers at Barber this year, should be fun.
XDEEDUBBX 05-18-2006, 01:25 PM when you do this be sure to tell us how it went. .. take some pics too!

no problem. They give us the royal treatment, it was a lot of fun.
Pics from last year! (http://www.silvereightstudio.com/GrandAmerican.html)
XDEEDUBBX 05-18-2006, 01:48 PM lucky dog you!
Apex Eater 05-19-2006, 08:59 PM I was at the Phoenix event and was able to walk around the Speedsource tent as they got ready for the race. Seeing the cars and drivers up close was very cool. I have some pics I need to post. The heat was brutal on the cars. Part of the event had "NOB" and Tarzan drive participants around the track in modified cars. Unfortunetly the cars were over heating and their cars were retired before I had a chance to go for a ride with them.
lesper4 05-21-2006, 01:49 AM nice pics cant wait to see yours apex
Apex Eater 05-21-2006, 10:17 AM I finally got the pictures back from my Dad. Lets see if I can do this.
Nope, the files are too big. give me a chance to change the size.
XDEEDUBBX 05-21-2006, 11:11 AM upload them to a different website (photobucket, etc) then hyperlink them on here.
Apex Eater 05-21-2006, 11:42 AM Here are a few I resized. I will try another website for the rest of them I have about 100 images and videos. It is hard to decide which ones to put on here.
Apex Eater 05-21-2006, 12:03 PM A few more pics. You'll have to forgive the pictures with the fence and finger, when you zoom in on the orginals they go away.
ColtSwitch 05-21-2006, 01:26 PM i love that orange.
XDEEDUBBX 05-22-2006, 12:06 PM you lucky ass! Nice pics apex.
JRichter 05-22-2006, 03:35 PM I'm jealous... :spank: For the less fortunate Speed TV is scheduled to reair the Phoenix race Wedensday at 4 pm central if anyone missed it.
Apex Eater 05-22-2006, 06:32 PM When they re-air the race, look on the outside of the hairpin corner you can see my dad and I watching the race and taking pictures (I'm wearing the khaki hat). That is where most of the pictures I posted are from.
I am still working on posting the remaining pics at some outside webpage. I took pics from all of the races and lots more of the RX8. Anyone know if these sites like kodak, photo bucket will take small videos? I have about 10-15 short (20 sec) videos. They are great for the sound. The Speedsource RX8's are the loudest cars out there.
JRichter 05-22-2006, 07:37 PM When they re-air the race, look on the outside of the hairpin corner you can see my dad and I watching the race and taking pictures (I'm wearing the khaki hat). That is where most of the pictures I posted are from.
lol... I think I still have it DVR'd. If I happen to spot you guys, I'll snap a digital pic of the screen to post.
Apex Eater 05-25-2006, 01:17 AM OK, I was able to put all of the pictures I took from the race in an online album. Let me know what you think. Sorry it took so long.
Enjoy
