Let' see… since they first came out I've seen a total of… 5. No wait—6! (Forgot to count mine.)

OK, maybe that's a slight under-exaggeration. But honestly, I can't believe how few I see! When you think of the hundreds of thousands of cars you see in this city—whether driving down Broadway, on the Grand Central, the L.I.E., the West Side Highway—I'm AMAZED at how I never see them! I see them literally about as often as I see Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Maseratis! Very weird.

"New" Jersey City??? I grew up there. Didn't know out of towners called it "New". I assume you are referring to the waterfront which has been completely overhauled to "new" status???

I live on the Garbage Dump...Staten Island. We should definitely have a meet in NYC...i know some great parks in Staten Island, where we can do it...setup the BBQs and such! Pick a date and I am in. I know a bunch of Mazda6s that would also meet up.

Just curious though. Would anyone be interested in a club sticker? I'm kinda new around here but have yet to see the RX8Club sticker - if there even is one... Would anyone be interested in submitting a design? I have done business with a a vinyl graphics guy for my business and I think he could cut a few stickers pretty cheap. I think it would be pretty cool to stumble upon a member on the highways.

Stop me if I'm sounding dumb here but would anyone be interested in submitting their email address so that we can keep in touch for meets and stuff? I've only been in NY/NJ for around 2 years so I don't even know the roads very well but I'm willing to help organize a meet on Staten Island.

i am still very surprise with the substantial turnouts for this post.. i hardly see rx8 in the city compared to so many cars r there! soo... why dont we start listing our forum name follow by real name + email + number so ... it is easier for a person to organize an event in nyc area.

I guess will start first...

Hello fellow New Yorkers! I'm a noob to rotaries, but not a noob to Mazda. Picked mine up few weeks ago from Wantagh Mazda. Base with sport package to keep things light and stiff. Still bone stock and not broken in. I'm in Bay Terrace in Queens. Cheers to this forum!

I really don't want to step on anyone's toes but would anyone mind if I took the liberty to post a new thread announcing a meet for NYC (and very close to NYC) members? I won't mind taking point on this meet - maybe we can discuss who will organize in the future at this meet? Since it is an NYC thing I think Jone's Beach parking lot #4 would be good for Saturday June 3rd. Lots of parking, everyone should know the location and long smooth roads and ocean views for some great pictures. I know this date can't be good for everyone but for the sake of our first meeting this year how about we stick to it? I for one would just like to meet with at least 2 other RX8club members to see who's in my 'hood. I'll also be bringing my fiance so I hope this to be a meeting for not just the cars but for the people that drive them.

So for the record:
Tentative NYC Meet on June 3rd 2006, Jones Beach parking lot #4 @ 2:00pm.
Bring a lunch, bring a drink, bring your car, bring your wife/gf/kids/dogs/friends - I hope for a great turnout for the tuners, racers, and even the automatic drivers among us! LOL

some one set up a meet!

New Yorker
06-08-2006, 10:29 AM
I wonder how many 8s would actually meet up. Possible meeting places:

• Palisades Pkwy: Scenic lookout (the first one, heading north)
• Cloisters parking lot in Ft. Tryon Pk (sometimes crowded, only good if it's just a few cars)

I tried to set up a meet but I got tired of all the wet towels being thrown...

Until we meet we can't get anything organized, we need to appoint a few members to be regional reps or even moderators so we can get NYC off the ground.

Contrary to some peoples thoughts there is no ONE date that will make everyone happy. I planned on setting a date and just going with it but if that seems too forced I don't know how else to put a meet together. Suggestions can come later but right now we need to be blunt and to the point. I'm down for a meet even if its initial turn out is 6 people (that's how we started the Toronto Protege club www.toprotege.com).

So how about we just set a date and a place but first off we need a moderator to make our meet post a sticky. Who do we contact to become a moderator?

chrism
06-09-2006, 08:30 AM
im sure the mods will sticky a big enough meet for the tri-state area....i have personally set up quite a few successful ones but i dont have much time to post lately.....there are quite a few people around here that work on saturdays so sundays would be a better meet day from what i have seen.....i say get a spot that is somewhat central, post a date 2-3 weeks in advance and im sure that there will be people going....last big one i helped put together was in garden state plaza mall and there were around 20 8's that showed......im also up for smaller shorter notice meets as well depending on the location...the palisades look out point is a good idea (been there before at another meet) but the spaces are limited sometimes.....there is also the large parking lot by houlihans in weehawken right by the water which could make for some nice shots......but some one has got to put it together

Possibility of a meet in NYC for rx8s???

Watch Tokyo Drift in theater at:
College Point Multiplex
2855 Ulmer Street
College Point Corporate Park
Whitestone, NY 11357
(its near Flushing, Queens and its next to Toys r Us)

Why there? Plenty of space for parking.
Meet up an hour or so before the movie starts.... just a little gathering and getting to know each other. After movie, we could grab dinner 2gether at restaurant? BBQ at Corona Park or any park? or even just a drive around the area in a group would still be awesome.

Btw.. i dont live in Queens, I am from Manhattan.. so i dont know much about Queens other than Flushing area.

I hope to see this happen.

We will determine date and time base on everyone's schedule but has to be before June 24th (because I wont be in America!) hehe

Open for suggestion... !!!
