Comes with clutch pedal too! Suddenly that $600 PS3 is looking a whooooole lot more tempting. (just for GT5)
Discuss.
fizzer 05-11-2006, 03:49 PM I must have one. Great deal considering good wheels & 3 pedal setups usually cost waaaay more. I'd use it for GT4/5, and I'm even more excited for it with LFS and rFactor on the PC.
BlueEyes 05-11-2006, 03:58 PM Holy christ on the cross! That thing looks incredible!
abbid 05-11-2006, 04:00 PM With clutch! now ill REALLY be able to beat scotty in the car games!
cleoent 05-11-2006, 04:02 PM That's pretty dope.

Indeed! Too bad it's going to put me $900 in the hole to own that thing...
($600 PS3 + it will cost $300)
BlueEyes 05-11-2006, 04:03 PM Where did you get that pic from? I cant find any written info about it
Rhawb 05-11-2006, 04:06 PM Friend of mine sent it to me. Let me see if I can get a link to his source.
Found it. It's actually on Logitech's own website. Logitech G25 Racing Wheel (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/news/US/EN,contentid=12020,crid=34)
nzarnow 05-11-2006, 10:40 PM Rhawb, you have no idea what you have just done. NO ONE CAN IMAGE WHAT THIS WILL DO TO ME!
I will NEVER LEAVE my house now!!!
When Gran Turismo 4 came out, I had it pre-ordered and played it like mad. At the same time, the logitech Driving Force Pro was the most advanced wheel out. Not only did I buy that wheel, I also custimized it.
My father (engineer) and I decided we wanted to do a project. We always over engineer things and well, we built a stand for the steering wheel. You can adjust the height up and down, and tilt the wheel. We essentially built a telescopic steering wheel that you find in cars today.
When we finally unlocked the formula 1 cars and had all the exotics/leMans cars, the wheel would give the perfect feedback to the speed. It was actually TIRING to drive at 200 MPH down seattle etc.
THIS WHEEL IS GOING TO END MY LIFE IF IT IS AS GOOD AS IT SOUNDS! Rhawb you are the first person to show me this and all I can say is "GIGGITY GIGGITY!"
This was the one thing that my friends and I wanted to be added to the steering wheel. The next question is if the game GT5 will be able to support all of its capabilities.
The real challenge for Polyphony and Sony is to make every car (or class of car depending on how much time they want to spend) act differently with the clutch. Example: A Honda drives and shifts differently with the wheel than a Ferrari does.
Luftwaffle 05-11-2006, 10:43 PM Yes, but will there be an automatic version for people who don't want to bother as much in traffic? :p:
Pretty sweet. 300 + a Recaro would be pretty damn steep, but cool as all hell to play on.
nzarnow 05-11-2006, 10:54 PM Check out the picture. See the turn knob above the shifter? It looks like you can turn it from the six speed (see the six gear logo) to sequential or flat out automatic juding by the up and down arrow logo.
You fancy wii doesn't have this now does it? All you get is a VCR remote to turn the car. :P
Luftwaffle 05-11-2006, 11:06 PM Ah, I see. The thing they need is higher resistance and force feedback on the pedals. It's weird hitting a brake pedal on the old wheels and not feeling anything pushing back. It just becomes a really long, analog button. I mean, 300 dollars should really give you a new level of immersion with the force feedback, and I'm pretty sure Logitech should have the technology to do that.
Pfft. Do not underestimate my Wii. It has enormous growth potential. :naughty:
Besides, my whole Wii will cost less than this controller alone. :p:
nzarnow 05-11-2006, 11:11 PM I know, and all of this is competition really just boils down to people like us benefiting. I just couldn't resist calling the wii controller a VCR remote. The big 3 will really be exciting and fun to see develop in the next year or two.
nzarnow 05-11-2006, 11:15 PM Here is a picture of everything included (so far) in the G25 package. Those pedals look freaking awesome. Perfect placement also!
Luftwaffle 05-11-2006, 11:16 PM Yep! :D:
It's all good. I like making fun of everything. Right now, the Wii and PS3 have my attention. I'm just pissed off that I have to shell out 600 for one. So, I'll probably end up holding out a bit unless the launch titles floor me.
ZoomZoomH 05-12-2006, 12:00 AM anyone that gets this thing will HAVE to build something to mount everything where it's suppose to be; putting this on teh coffee table would just be TOO LAME :o:
Rhawb 05-12-2006, 10:04 AM So the pedals may actually come with FF support. I saw a picture last night where the pedals were set kind of diagonal with the camera so you could see behind the pedals. It seems that the pedals are rigged up to some sort of cylinder which looks like it could be something to provide a bit of feel. It's nothing official, but that's just what it looks like to me. I'll see if I can get that picture back.
snizzle 05-12-2006, 11:44 AM Great. Way to make me want to spend money on something I already have!

nzarnow 05-13-2006, 02:08 AM That momo is not half as great as the new logitech.
Does anyone have any info on how well it works with games and with gran turismo 4/5?

Obviously it's not. Hence me mad at the fact that I want to spend money on something I already have.

Well, GT4 should just feel like an improved version of the Driving Force Pro, seeing as it's made of higher quality materials and now sports two motors. GT4 will almost surely fail to support the clutch and shift gate seeing as the game was not designed with this wheel in mind. GT5, on the other hand, should be built with this wheel in mind and will probably feel amazing. Nobody has tried it though since it doesn't drop until October.
roywhitep5 05-13-2006, 03:08 PM crap! i hope i can sell my soon to be inferior gt4 wheel so i can buy this
nzarnow 05-13-2006, 03:53 PM So are there any other games besides GT5 that plan on using the clutch and shifting? Not that I need another game, but just curious. I am sure that GT5 will be the best of them all anyways.
nzarnow 05-14-2006, 03:36 AM I refuse to let this thread die untill GT5 comes out for the PS3.

Supposedly it's going to be supported by a lot of PC games, but I've never really gotten into PC racing games. There's a list on the Logitech site of a few games (that I've never heard of), so if you're into PC racing games, you might want to give it a look see. Console wise, I'd say you'll start seeing a spotty list of last minute PS2 games that support it, but by and large it'll be PS3 games where you see most of your support.
The fact that it has a clutch is cool, but games have to support that kind of thing.
I like the true manual shifter as well..
So you people are telling me that you're actually willing to shell out $600 for the PS3?
Seriously.. this is the first time where I don't feel like a game system is worth the pricetag they put on it (since the atari jaguar or neo geo).
More power to you I guess. I have the money to buy one too and I see no reason whatsoever. There is no game on that system that compels me to spend that kind of cash. I think sony is seriously pricing themselves out of the gaming market..
Nice looking wheel..
Rhawb 05-14-2006, 12:07 PM There's no way I'm dropping $600 on a new system. Hell, there's no way I'm dropping $400. My plans are to get myself a Wii upon release, wait for price drops and then decide which system I believe is the best overall value of the remaining two. I'm going to end up with all 3 for sure, it's just a question of what order I'll purchase them in. I'm a Gran Turismo freak, so I need a PS3. 360 doesn't have any exclusives that interest me, but it'll have all the multiplatform games and will likely be cheaper.
nzarnow 05-14-2006, 01:50 PM Well, if I have the money I will get a PS3 as soon as possible, but if not then I will just have to wait. The Playstation will for sure be my only next gen system however.
nzarnow 05-14-2006, 07:23 PM I wonder how realistic they are going to make GT5 with this wheel? Can you stall a car or grind the gears? If you try and not use the clutch will the car still shift and drive like some arcade games? They better make it so you HAVE to use the clutch and shift in manual mode.

kartweb 10-10-2009, 01:06 AM The new G27 looks like what the G25 should have been.
Six buttons rather then two.
No deadspot.
I may have to buy one.
Symbioticgenius 10-10-2009, 02:03 AM I take this as a sign that GT5 is coming out soon. I always said. "GT5 wont be coming out until Logitech makes a wheel for it" Well there we are.

That seems so long ago... your comment about getting yourself a wii "upon release" made me realize how old this thread is. I remember getting my wii with some friends my first semester as a freshman in college... seems so long ago.
CyberPitz 10-10-2009, 10:17 AM I want one now :(
