Well, the plastic trim pieces on the outside are fading and I'm getting this white residue on them. Which I don't know if it's some sort of stain from the Wax I used a couple weeks ago, which I diidn't even put on them. Or some sort of oxidation.

I was wondering what I can use to keep these looking more new and clean them up?

I'm talking about the areas like, wher the side mirros are and the windshild wiper cover, and vents.

Any suggestions?

They need some sunscreen - I use 303 Protectant, cleans off the white residue and protects the "blackness" :)

go to walmart and get a bottle of 'back to black', i forget who makes it. But it's a white liquid (it's not a dye or anything) that will clean up any black trim. I use this on the bottom areas of the front and rear of the car that get dirty. Even when clean they're not a dark black color. This cleans it and makes it shine like brand new black plastic. It isn't oily or anything either.

I also did the inside of my wheel wells with it and dirt isn't sticking to them either, so it works really well.

Mothers Back to Black is very good, but my favourite is Formula 303 Aerospace Protectant as Stealth mentioned.

The only thing with the Back to Black is that you have to buff it off, right? I'm looking for something that could be easily used for the side vents. Buffing those bad boys would be a real pita.

303 require buffing?

yes you apply it, cover the surface and then buff out....then I would put 303 on let sit and soak in...then wipe off excess

You can also try Turtle Wax Ice. It worked wonders on all the black trim on my 8. A lot of others have agreed...see the Turtle Wax Ice thread in this section.

Plus, you can use the rest of the wax to give your ride some shine.
