View Full Version : RX 8 Turbo info
bostrumpet01 05-08-2006, 12:58 AM Just bought the Greddy turbo kit for my car. I am looking for someone to install. Just have a couple of questions. Will there be any problem lights that come on? How will it effect the lifespan of my engine? I hear rotaries take forced induction pretty well. I am only going to run 5 psi.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
bostrumpet01 05-08-2006, 12:59 AM By problems lights I meant dash warning lights. oil light, check engine light, stuff like that
ok thanks again
BigOLundh 05-08-2006, 01:25 AM With the Greddy Kit, you shouldn't throw any of the above mentioned lights.
At 5psi, you should be safe
I can install it for you, if you want to drive to Dallas... and chill out for a week.
Posting where you live will be helpful in answering that question for ya.

zaglo6204 05-08-2006, 01:27 AM well don't you think you should have done some of this research before you just went out & bought the kit? if you don't know a thing other than what the blurbs have to say on the websites selling the kits, then you are in for a big surprise. please use the search function up towards the top-right of the page. i would help you out with more details, but i'd prefer to not be the bearer of bad news. good luck, you might need it. let us know how it goes.

bostrumpet01 05-08-2006, 01:41 AM Thanks for the posts. I live in Dallas actually. In lakewood. What do you charge for the instal, and what else do I need to safely run this turbo.
Thanks
BigOLundh 05-08-2006, 01:44 AM If you don't know a thing other than what the blurbs have to say on the websites selling the kits, then you are in for a big surprise. Zaglo makes a good point. The Greddy Kit is not as advertised. It's still a great kit, but get ready for a project.
bigo u wanna install mine too? in a few months that is.Sure, when im in SoCal later this summer for a few days we can meet up.
Bring a wrench, some jackstands... and a lot of pizza/beer.
bostrumpet01 05-09-2006, 11:26 PM So this turbo isnt really for a project car, I just wanna make my current one go a little faster. Is a Greddy kit good for some extra reliable horses?
Renesis_8 05-09-2006, 11:33 PM Oh man, you bought a turbo without doing research?......
bostrumpet01 05-09-2006, 11:42 PM I did do research! :-) I saw that a lot of people had the kit, and it was running strong. However, I am about to get this kit installed and need to know if there is anything else, that I need to make this work smooth. I was also concerned to see if there were any cel lights that come on due to the dramatic changed associated with adding forced induction to the car.
bostrumpet01 05-09-2006, 11:43 PM Hey Zaglo, I live in dallas, were you at?? What would you charge for the instal?
