Well, one of us is. And it's not me.

For 3 weeks, I've not seen any other RX-8's in the Atlanta area. Then, yesterday, I see a black 8, just like mine. I'm at a red light and he pulled up next to me as the light turned green. I was grinning from ear to ear and about to roll down my window to say Hi. It turned green, he went past me, with what can only be described as a scowl, and turned off down a side street.

As rare and unique as these cars are, I would think a head nod, hand wave, or smile at one another would not be out of the question. He may as well have flipped me a bird.

I just wanted to share my experience and hope that we aren't viewed as snooty (snobby) people for driving a sports car.

I friend of mine owns a Lotus Elise and it's considered impolite NOT to acknowledge another Elise driver when on the road. Your experience sucks!

this reminds me of what happened yesterday. was driving home, entered my gated community. then i see infront of me another titianum grey!!!!!!!! i was like wtf no way. and as we kept driving it was obvious we lived in the same area. he stuck his arm out and gave me a peace sign. turns out he lives just around the corner from me.

Well, one it wasn't me. I have yet to see the other RX's driving around in town.

Plus mine's Titanium Gray.

But if you see me, I'll at least wave. :)

There's an unwritten rule for some cars where you're supposed to honk if you see the same car as yours. For example, my father used to own a vette and anytime he would see another one on the road he would honk or flip his lights up at the other person. I guess it's a rule for rare cars or for enthusiasts, but then again, my friend used to do it too anytime he saw the same model Saturn SC2 driving around so who knows!

When on my Bike I wave at every other bike on the road. It's just normal if you Ride

Porsche owners used to have the tradition of flashing their headlights at each other.

Don't worry that guy will sell his as soon as he sees a few more on the street because he won't be the center of attention anymore. Unfortunately all 8 owners aren't car enthusiasts like most of us.

You should have followed him and made him miserable.

"When on my Bike I wave at every other bike on the road. It's just normal if you Ride"

Yeah, assuming your bike has a motor, it's customary to wave to fellow bikers. The only time I'm ever ignored while on my Honda is in passing Harley guys. Most of them only wave to fellow Harley guys. The rest of us are not worthy.

As for the guy in the RX8 not waving, I'm thinking he was miffed that a clone of HIS car is actually out there. Just think how pissed he's gonna be in about 3 months.

New here, my first post. I am in CA and saw a Titgrey one :D while going to the beach 3 wks back.

sorry, forgot about the subject of the thread. Some driver are snooty but maybe most are deep in thoughts while driving to notice someone is trying to say hi or something.

Well, aparently I am snooty. Of course, the fact that the other guy saw me and I totally missed him can be explained as me enjoying my car that I had been driving for all of 3 days when he spotted me. Missed the honk and wave :( And I actually wanted to see another car on the road. Oh well, maybe this weekend Ic an hookup with him (since he's on the boards after all)

I got my 8 on Friday July 25th. Everyone in the office knew I was getting it but would have to wait a week to see it because I was on vacation for the next week. When I came back to work a week later there was a black RX-8 in the parking lot of our building! Everyone was like "Oh yeah, somebody else got a RX-8 last week but we still like yours as well..." GRRRR.... Nobody knows who drives it though.

So, anyone on here work off of Wake Forest Rd. in Raleigh, NC and own a black RX-8?

:D
