I've been looking around at things to buy and have been looking at these 2 things on top of some others. I was just wondering if anyone has used any of these and if they are even worth the purchase.

And of those threads where Spacer's were discused what did you see That they cannot work? So why would someone buy one? If those $20.00 items on Ebay worked why are they not on the car from the factory?

Popular Mechanics LINK (http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/new_cars_trucks/1802932.html) tested a few and they don't work. The design of the RX-8 intake and the distance of the THREE fuel injectors from the spacer makes these a waste of money. A spacer might do some good on a carburated engine since it can be placed AFTER the air/fuel are mixed. You cannot install it this way on a RX-8 and most fuel injected cars.

A throttle body spacer might give you a bit of mid range on most cars, but on the RX-8, I wouldn't mess with it. Mazda engineers put a lot of effort into the intake tract getting everything tuned just right as far as plenum volume, and lengths from the throttle body to the ports. I wouldn't do anything to mess that up.

For voltage stabalizers, I have heard they can help your idle a little bit. If you do that along with grounding cords, you will at least have a stable electrical system. I wouldn't get too wound up about power gains though. Since there probably won't be any you could feel.

HAHA... you just bought a car that doesn't respond well powerwise to bolt-on parts unless you go FI or retune with Interceptor.

Hey 2Xrotary, I might offer a bit of encouragement on the voltage stabilizer. I have a custom 400f stabilizer installed along with an custom 2058-wire, 8 point ground wire kit and Odyssey battery with a goal of maximizing the electrical system's potential.

For the whole kit the theory and my hopes are for better idle, better spark, better ECU /general electrical performance, and better top end ignition and ultimately a bit more "under the curve" HP (see: http://www.sunautomobile.com/). Lofty goals I will admit, but in an NA car everything is on the table for finding improvement.

I haven't had enough miles or track time with it to be able to offer you an authorative evaluation yet, but emperically I can say the idle is definitely silky smooth compared to the stock lumpy idle. I have found an encouraging change (electrically related I believe) that appears to potentially solve of one of the RX-8's most annoying habits, but I'd rather not risk the flames of naysayers with detail until I can offer substantive proof of theory.

Track time data logging will help document if the other mentioned benefits exist.

Bottom line, I think there is something to these 'borderline' mods.... just go for it... but don't scrimp and do it with over-the-top components and careful workmanship.
