Plan to replace oem dunlop... say.. AVON 550 a/s? Give me your opinion

I study at Binghamton , NY
and sometimes go back home to NYC....

give me your opinion... i want the feel of oem dunlop if not better in handling and grip (wet+dry) but also want a good performance for the winter snow that can get me through at least 2 winter seasons.

thanks all!

JordanC -- IMHO, having grown up in Binghamton and knowing where you are, you should have dedicated winter tires if at all possible. They will give you the best winter safety factor combined with your brain. Other's with all season tires can comment on their experiences but with you driving to NYC (winter down 17 through the catskills??? ) I would want winter tires.

I'm from texas so I don't really know what snow is, I did have to spend the past winter months working in arkansas with my Rx8 where there is a much higher chance of snow/ice I got the AvonTech M550's for extra safety (it snowed only once up there and i didnt drive that day, so that kinda sucked, but id rather pay 500 for tires and a bit of safety then 30K for a new ride)

The M550's are great - my stocks were the Potenza's and the ride was noticably quieter after putting on the 550's. There isnt as much performance as my stock potenzas (which i still have with only 8K on them) but for an all season tire im very satisfied with the Avon M550's, great price and great performance for what its designed to do.

Too bad I'm set for the tires for a while, I gotta use up these 550s and still have the pretty new Potenza's sitting in the garage. Sucks because I've been drooling over some of the newer super sticky ultra-high performance summer tires I see on tirerack.
