ender_okc 04-13-2006, 08:10 PM I will be there!!!!
dmorales 04-14-2006, 01:30 PM This sounds cool, but Tulsa is faaaaaaaar! Whew I'll probably have to fill up twice to get there! :0 Then at $3.20 /gallon it better be worth it! Well, don't count me yet. Because I have something important going on towards the end of May and I can't remember the exact dates. But I really would like to if possible. I really enjoyed last years BBQ in Arlington. Are there going to be 7's going too?

Of course there will be 7s!!! Actually, it'll probably be 7 dominated again like last year. I think of the 35 cars last year, only 8 were RX8s.
Tulsa takes 4 hours from the Plano area. I don't remember if we stopped and filled up or not. With the walkies talkies, the drive really isn't too bad.
We stopped to go pee but we didn't get gas.
I don't remember where that was but we got gas when we got there and then washed our cars.
I plan to go again this year since it's on a weekend.
I'll let you know for sure when we get a little closer.
Slims8 04-14-2006, 05:29 PM I'll let you know for sure when we get a little closer.
I agree... I'm tired of saying I'll go, then something come up that I forgot about or was completely unexpected.
I'll let you know the 26th. :D:

ditto.
Oh and yeah if it was made into a cruise that would probably make the trip better.
________
Volcano vaporizers (http://volcanovaporizer.net/)
dazygirl415 04-16-2006, 10:42 AM It is a cruise. We all leave at the same time and follow each other up there. There's a cruise after the BBQ and we all cruise home.
Sorry, I thought it was understood.
bluesunlion 04-17-2006, 02:22 PM AHEM... ;)
Put myself and the "plus one" down as a definite maybe.
Planning on making this one

dazygirl415 04-17-2006, 07:02 PM You are correct Harry.
dmorales 04-23-2006, 04:52 PM Does this mean that there is not going to be a BBQ in arlington this year like last?
________
Live Sex (http://livesexwebshows.com/)
dazygirl415 04-23-2006, 11:41 PM Oh, there will be a BBQ this fall. The Quad-State BBQ is a spin-off from the Tulsa BBQ. Four of us went to Tulsa last year and when the organizers, David and Dan, asked if someone in DFW wanted to host one in the fall, we stepped up. Now there are two BBQ's every year: one in the spring in Tulsa, OK and one in the fall in DFW, TX. :D:
dmorales 04-24-2006, 08:45 AM Whew. Because I'm not sure I'll make the Tulsa one. At least I know I get a second chance!

ALWAZL8 04-28-2006, 07:42 PM I'm not lettin' gas prices stop me from having a fun weekend with like-minded people! :D:
I am registered. Looking forward to it.
bluesunlion 05-03-2006, 11:46 AM Just registered. I may have to come up on Sat morning and miss the Friday debauchery though. Matt has class on Friday nights.
dazygirl415 05-03-2006, 01:20 PM That's awesome Rach! We made the drive the morning of last year and it wasn't too bad - especially since you're so close to the border as is.
MAJOR BUMP!!! The OK BBQ is only 24 days away! As of today we have 82 cars and 50 people registered! Visit www.RotaryRendezvous.com to print off flyers and tag rotaries in your area to make the count even bigger!
If you haven't booked your room already, you better do so soon - rotaries are invading Tulsa and there are only so many beds to go around!
dmorales 05-03-2006, 01:54 PM How can there be 82 cars and only 50 people? Cars can't drive themselves!
Or am I missing something??

dazygirl415 05-03-2006, 02:08 PM People bring spouses, friends, kids, etc. The Fall Q had 211 people and over 100 cars register.
dgerald 05-03-2006, 08:37 PM :mdrmed: I think she meant it the other way around! Silly girl!
dazygirl415 05-03-2006, 08:40 PM So then Morales read it wrong and I'm not crazy??
dgerald 05-03-2006, 08:46 PM Oh you're so crazy, but it's cool! 82 people (including myself) and 50 cars...but I'll see if I can up that a little by taging some cars 'round here, now that I gots flyers printed out.
ALWAZL8 05-03-2006, 11:25 PM LOL.... yeah, she meant 50 cars and 82 peeps.... she's so excited she got it backwards! :D:
ALWAZL8 05-03-2006, 11:26 PM Oh... and take it from me..... we've got some cool stuff to give away as raffle prizes.
dgerald 05-04-2006, 01:00 AM I believe you and cant wait. Missed out on Tulsa BBQ last year as I was getting engine work done that weekend (was worth it though). I look forward to seeing everyone, and hope some moded 8's make it up here also. Hardly anyone here in Tulsa has done anything (met a guy a little north of here that had a MS Bodykit, and saw a parked 8 with a chrome gas cover  )...and THAT'S about it!
dazygirl415 05-04-2006, 10:21 AM Ah! Now I see my mistake. Sorry 'bout that. :o:
ALWAZL8 05-04-2006, 01:47 PM Heeheeheee....
dazygirl415 05-12-2006, 06:06 PM BUMP!!! The BBQ is only 2 weeks away!!
ALWAZL8 05-12-2006, 07:03 PM I picked up the trophies today. We also got goodies from DPE Web to give away during the raffles! :D:
bluesunlion 05-12-2006, 08:10 PM Is it too late to order T-shirts?
ALWAZL8 05-12-2006, 11:36 PM Nope, you can order through the link on RR's homepage.
Creto 05-18-2006, 08:17 AM Alright, Lindsay and I are registered... just fyi, the rotory group rate at the Hilton is sold out, but they still have a couple of rooms available.
Creto 05-23-2006, 03:03 PM well, crap... we just had some layoffs and the expected "we need more hours from our fewer people" "request" was handed down, so I (and Lindsay) won't be able to make it. Sorry guys, really wanted to get out of town too.
NoTears316 05-24-2006, 10:17 PM Jeez... 900+ miles to Tulsa. I'm obviously never gonna make it to one of these things.
bluesunlion 05-25-2006, 11:21 AM Our attendance is contingent on the A/C Service at the house.
It quit working yesterday morning, and they're going to have to order parts.
If the parts arrive today or tomorrow, we should be good. If they arrive saturday, we're boned, because we'll have to be home.
We slept at my mom's house in Sherman last night, because it got up to 99 on the second floor where the bedrooms are, and a nice chilly 90 downstairs.
Cliffnotes: we might have to back out, but don't know for sure yet.
dazygirl415 05-25-2006, 06:10 PM Yowzers! 99 inside the house is nuts!! Good luck on the A/C issue Rach. Hopefully the parts come ASAP and we'll see you this weekend!

Got this off the Oklahoma DPS site....
Does this mean I can take my front license plate off when entering Ok. state lines? :dunno:
Yeah.. we don't require a front plate.
juikster 05-26-2006, 06:33 PM Yeah.. we don't require a front plate.
I'm going to move to Oklahoma....any ways thats where all my old school kin live anyways, ........thanks worm :beer05:
BigOLundh 05-26-2006, 07:07 PM As you cross into oklahoma, yall should all pull over as a group and release your front license plates. What a liberating moment of freedom.

dgerald 05-27-2006, 07:01 PM Well, that was kinda fun. Unfortunately I was only there for a little over and hour, before my dyno appointment. LOL, the wayward Texas folks were just pulling up as I was leaving. A little lost, eh? I was hoping to make it back in time to claim Best RX-8 :) , but after 5 long hours at the dyno, the BBQ was already over. I heard ALWAZL8 took it. Congrats!
Hopfully I'll get to meet more of you in the fall.
johnnyo 05-27-2006, 09:46 PM that sucks man, i was wandering where you ran off too and why it took so long....so the texas people did show up ??
dgerald 05-27-2006, 10:50 PM They had some issues with the 2 cars that were before me so it took a long time to get me strapped in. Dave came over to the dyno and said the BBQ was over and prizes/trophies were given away. It was good seeing you there, although bad for my bank account 'cause now I want the MS kit again!
The caravan showed up, but it looked like there were only a few cars. The only RX-8 I remember seing from it was ALWAZL8's, but after seeing the driver, I'd change her name to ALWAZHOT!
johnnyo 05-27-2006, 11:02 PM rofl...you've got me dreaming of turbo's now...must..save...money...the ptp and ssr turbo's are looking very tempting....alas i must control myself, getting married soon so my modding has halted to say the least! see ya round

Hey dgerald, were you the one that came to the Tusla BBQ last year with the shinka?
dazygirl415 05-28-2006, 05:51 PM Yes, the Texas folks made it ok. Not only did we get lost trying to find the Q, but the Texas Handy Honda got a flat tire about 10 minutes out from the Q.
I wish I could have met ya'll. Congrats to Shari again for winning Best RX-8!!!!!
See ya'll in the fall!!!
dgerald 05-28-2006, 06:07 PM Hey dgerald, were you the one that came to the Tusla BBQ last year with the shinka?
No, but there IS a Shinka very close to my work here in Tulsa. I would have tagged it with a flyer but it's behind a gate. Being a rare breed (especially around these parts), it's probably the same one that showed up last year.
Yes, the Texas folks made it ok. Not only did we get lost trying to find the Q, but the Texas Handy Honda got a flat tire about 10 minutes out from the Q.
Bummer, so that was you I saw in the pasenger seat of the Honda. I was keeping an eye out for your VR with the MS kit, too bad it was out of commission :( . I wanted to see how that MS wing looked as I have yet to see one in person. Did you or anyone else in the caravan go out for drinks later? I was worn out and sunburned last night so I didn't make it.
johnnyo 05-28-2006, 09:17 PM yeah...there weren't to many 8's there... was looking forward to seeing the dallas folks...
dazygirl415 05-28-2006, 09:40 PM Yeah, that was me! I was really bummed my 8 couldn't be there too. :( Oh well, next time. We went out for drinks around 8 or so. We had dinner at the Elephant Bar and Grill and then went to Brook (???) on 33rd/Peoria for a few beers. The afterparty was in our hotel room, but I was asleep on the bed. :o:
YA'LL NEED TO COME DOWN FOR THE FALL Q!!!
ALWAZL8 05-29-2006, 12:53 PM The caravan showed up, but it looked like there were only a few cars. The only RX-8 I remember seing from it was ALWAZL8's, but after seeing the driver, I'd change her name to ALWAZHOT!
*blush* Awwww..... *blush*
Dave came over and told Tiff and I that he loved us and all, but that if your 8 had been there during voting you would've won the "Best RX8" award. I hate that I didn't get to check it out. ;)
Hopefully we'll all get to meet ya and check out your 8 at the fall 'Q in October.
dgerald 05-29-2006, 07:35 PM Congrats again, best 8 won hands down!
How's the Texas weather in October? It was the worst day possible for a dyno tune, I'd like to maybe swing down to Gotham Racing that weekend to give them another crack at tunning it.
dazygirl415 05-29-2006, 10:07 PM It's usually warm/cool. The hot is gone, but it can sometimes rain towards the end of the month.
ALWAZL8 05-29-2006, 10:16 PM It's usually pretty nice weather in October. It doesn't start getting cool until late November, early December or so. We had the fall 'Q at the end of September last year (on the same weekend that Hurricane Rita blew onto the coast, as a matter of fact). It was overcast and windy, but a nice temp and not a bad day at all.
BigOLundh 05-30-2006, 01:15 AM Where are the pics?
bluesunlion 05-30-2006, 11:52 AM Sorry we didn't end up making it.
Between the A/C fiasco, and being chronically overscheduled this weekend, it just wasn't happening.
However, the house is now a cool 74 degrees, Matt should have a job by the end of this week, and I have vacation in about two weeks.
Some normalcy would be nice....
ALWAZL8 05-30-2006, 11:58 AM Here's a link to the few pics that I took...
http://rotaryrendezvous.com/Gallery/album10
There's a thread at www.rotaryrendezvous.com/forum that has more links posted. Mike hasn't had a chance to post the "official" pics yet. There are A LOT of 'em. :)
dgerald 05-30-2006, 02:19 PM Awesome, you even got a couple of shots of the "Brookside" Lambo, I see that around here alot!
ALWAZL8 05-30-2006, 07:26 PM Yep, that's exactly where it was parked, too. :) Definitely not a car I get to see every day.
