The Italian Stallion backed up by a home team or the Italian newcomer (relative) supported by a German house of wealth!

This is the first time that Lambo has gone after Ferrari at the "entry-level" supercar class.

2003 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale - $190,000 (NOT the same as the Challenge race car)
3586cc V8 - 425bhp@8500 and 276lb-ft@3750 with 8500 Redline
Curb Weight: 2822 lbs
Layout: Mid-Engine/RWD
Transmission: 6-Speed Sequential
of note: Carbon-Ceramic Brake Discs w/ 6-Piston Calipers at the Front, 4-Piston Calipers at the Rear & ABS

or the Newcomer

2003 Lamborghini Gallardo - $175,000
5000cc V10 - 500bhp@7800 and 376lb-ft at 4800 with 7500 Redline

I'll always give it to Ferrari over Lamborghini.. RWD, lighter weight, and a plethora of racing history make it an easy choice. Lamborghini just has a more exotic look.

Those are on the $250,000 Murcielago.

The Gallardo's space frame will more than likely be used on a future Audi and/or VW sportscar.

Yes, Lambo is a division of Audi (which is a division VW).

...sense. too many comprimises for style.

anyways, there's something about the romance of the bull, the ferocious power, the menacing aura about the animal, the (sometimes) blind rage. i can't help but feel that the Lamborghini is so much more of a man's car, so much more machismo. i mean, who can't love a company that names one of it's cars "The Devil"??

every time i see one of those, i think of a three ton animal, thick with rippling muscle, a dripping muzzle, snorting and hoofing at the ground (ripping big chunks out of it).

oh yeah.

I'm impressed by how light BOTH these cars are. 2800 lbs is nothing for a car with 400+ HP. And 3100 lbs is more than respectable for a 500 HP, AWD sports car.

I'm sure both go like bats out'a Hell, but the Ferrari is MUCH sexier. Then again, the Lambo has SO much raw power, torque and AWD. Then again, it doesn't matter, since I can't afford either and never will!:D

I think a saying I saw in some car mag sums it up best. It went something like "A Ferrari is like the nice girlfriend you take home to meet your parents, but the Lambo is the bitch you sleep with on weekend."

If I had to choose one I would pick the "bitch".:)

Funny feeling of de ja vue ...

Doesn't the red one have curvy bits like a Mazda RX-8 and ...

the yellow one the sharp ... all-too-modern style of a 350z

Let me see which one would I choose?!?

360!

But I'm more of a Ferrari kinda guy.. Next time I hit the megabucks I'm buying me a 575M Maranello.

Actually, the Lambo was discribed as "the wild slut you sleep with on the side." The magazine was Road & Track, and they were quoting some F1 driver.

It's sad that I actually remember all that, but it was a great quote! :D
