At Wantagh Mazda every RX-8 is marked Sold, but if you go on MazdaUSA.com and do an inventory search apparently they have some left...
even mine which is marked sold At the dealer even though its not offically sold which leads me to believe alot of people arnt picking up their RX-8s

 

Actually, you will likely find that the online inventory does not change until the car officially goes off the books of the dealer. In other words, you have taken the car and gotten all the paperwork handled. The cars marked sold on the lot would be one of two things IMO. 1) They are spoken for, deal is made, just waiting final processing. 2) Some are part of dealer's allocation but not spoken for. In this scenario there is probably one or two "available" to the man/woman off the street. If this person REALLY wanted one of the 'sold' ones for the color/options/etc, then I suspect the other 'buyer' would have financing problems. Good news for the man/woman off the street!! This scenario allows the salesman several creative stories to sell the car at a higher price.

My car that I ordered in April shows up in dealer inventory at mazdausa.com, based on the VIN the dealer gave me. I guess that means I should be getting a call soon, but ...I'm still waiting.

 

eskimo - I'm in the same boat you are ... I can see my VIN on mazdausa, but don't know where it is yet, other than listed with my dealer, of course.

You can call the dealer, they can run an inventory report and see where your car is (built, on-water, port), or you can call Mazda Orders with your VIN and see if they have any information for you.
