pulled into the gass station today to fillup half a tank (had spent half a tank of gass, with 280 miles on the odo)

anyway, i ask the attendant to top off my oil, and he couldnt find the dipstick so i told him to forget it

Some gas jockeys are experts at finding the dipsticks in all the places they're hidden, some aren't.

However, in the RX-8 the dipstick is easy to spot - it has a yellow handle! Mine does, at least.

yellow handle...good, now i can show him next time, first fill-up anyway so it shouldnt be a problem but wow, 37,3 mpg, i dont think that can be right, though i do drive incredibly laid back, never mash the gass, light foot, shifts at 3k, though today i took her to 6 and a half grand a couple times, purred just like a kitty lol

that can't be right! even at 180 miles with 7.5 gallons would be 24 mpg. which would be exceptional in this car. i just cant believe 280 on half of a tank :confused:

Poo is full of Poo....or the gauge or odometer is broke. Even if it is set to KM it would be decent gas mileage.

thats what im thinking, it cant be right, my brother must have filled it up when he took it out cause he put around 40 or 50 miles on it, which seems a lot more acceptable

i mean, im all for good mileage, but i think that is a little too good, he must have filled it up, or at least put more or less what he used up

I would be too afraid he would use the wrong viscosity or a synthetic brand.

Not to fire up the oil scene again but last I heard the 5-20 that the engine calls for in the manual does have some synthetic qualities.... am I wrong ? I think the renesis is one engine where you can run synthetic and will have less problems if any. Heck, why would racingbeat reccomend royal purple? and don't say marketing...

My guess is that the attendant didn't fill it up! The pump will usually "click off" on my Miata with at two gallons or more to go.
I hate letting ANYONE else fill my tank, check my oil, etc. The typical gas station jockey is not the "sharpest kife in the drawer". Just go to NJ and you'll see.:cool:

Gas stations attendants are such ninnies. If *I* can find the dipstick on the car, it can't be too difficult to see. Getting to it is going to be the problem. But everyone's right- I'd rather do it myself, because I don't trust the guys that work at most stations like that.

Pooman, you about gave me a heart attack. We filled up this morning for the first time, 9.75 gallons in 167 miles. And we haven't been driving all that agressively yet.
