View Full Version : Rough Idling Update....
Hercules 08-11-2003, 05:40 PM Figured my problem... was the A/C. When the car is idling and the A/C is on, the vibrations get pretty heavy so I just turn it off while I'm idling. As long as your foot is on the gas it's not an issue so I'm not terribly concerned about it. Even 1000rpms will keep it from vibrating so it's no biggie to me.
Hope this helps everybody. Oh, and my stick also vibrates but that I'm used to since day 1.
P00Man 08-11-2003, 08:55 PM glad to hear there isnt a problem with your baby

blizz81 08-12-2003, 12:14 PM You guys just need to stop using the A/C :)
Does everyone report a vibration at idle with the A/C on?
offdaheeze 08-19-2003, 07:04 AM well my wife discovered it being that I dont use the a/c. One day I tested it while sitting in traffic and sure enough it started convulsing. It really started shaking, I expect a rough idle with the a/c on, but i think that was a little excessive. If this is normal and everyone is experiencing it, i'll try to ignore it, I would hate to have to take it in so early. I will mention it to the tech when I go and pick up my tags.

I'd definitely mention it at your first service.
RodsterinFL 08-19-2003, 01:17 PM My car shakes at idle (more like a vibration) and it did since the test drive. Is it supposed to be totally smooth? AC on and off.
jerzeydevil 08-19-2003, 04:18 PM mine is rough at idle (not bad, just more than I expected) as well...seems to be a recurring theme, ac on or off....along with the rough idle is a unpleasent whine at rest as well....goes away as soon as you bring it up to as little as 1k like Herc stated. It's funny, I don't remember my 7 being this rough at idle.....haven't drove it in a while though so maybe my memory fails me.....
Mines a TAD rougher with the AC but not bad at all.
lefuton 08-19-2003, 09:53 PM when you guys get the rough idle...what rpm is your car idling at? my car idles anywhere between 1100 (startup) to 900 (warmed up), i've never felt the engine get rough until once it dipped to like 600 rpm.
RodsterinFL 08-19-2003, 11:01 PM My car sputters and misses at first start in the morning. The idle is moderate. At red lights the car idles the same way all above 600 RPM and below 1000 (around 800). Turning the AC off makes little difference.
pelucidor 08-20-2003, 01:05 AM My AC is always on, but today was the first time I was sitting in traffic a lot with the sound system off. I noticed the rough idle (at around 800-900rpm) and vibration coming through the gearstick as well. Not too bad but worse than my IS300 ever did. Probably won't mention it until my 3750 mile service (I will be doing an oil change at 1000 miles).
