Hi all,

I think I've decided to take the plunge and order an RX-8. But I am absolutely torn and at an emotional impasse regarding which color to choose. I have narrowed it down to Titanium Gray or Winning Blue.

Now, I have yet to see the Winning Blue in person, but I do have the RX-8 brochure and some of you indicated that the pics in there are pretty darned close to what it really looks like. That's not the same as seeing it live, though. I can't find one anywhere to look at it. The Titanium looks awesome in person.

I currently have a silver Accord coupe and before that I had a Mariner Blue Miata. My concern with the Titanium is that the color, while much darker, is still kind of close to silver. Would I get tired of it quickly?

Anyway, I know I'm the only one who can make this choice, but if anyone has any tips you used to help decide on color or any strong opinions about either color regarding ease of maintenance, or whatever, please post.

Thanks in advance!

I posted just a moment ago on this same topic for someone else. I ordered silver but bought blue and am not at all displeased. If I were ordering or buying again I would be right where you are between titanium and blue.

The blue is flashy and sporty. Mine does show the dust but the color has visual depth to it and looks wet in the sun - striking. Several people have commented to me about this blue and it is in a sense the cobalt blue color of Porsche that is an extra $3070!!!Theirs is just a tad darker.

The titanium is classy more subtle but more expensive looking. I do not beleive it would be any better at hiding dirt than the blue but it is beautiful all the same.

Another thing to consider is that the blue only comes with the black interior whereas the titanium gets the 2-tone option (if that matters to you)

Either one is beautiful. If you have these locally to see go and stand by them and gaze

COnsider the color as an expression of yourself and remember too that it is not the last time you will ever make this decision.

I've seen most of the colors in person now. Hope this helps:

Velocity Red Mica (medium red) - good mix of light & dark. Shows character of lines but gives depth to car. I orignally didn't like it, but it's starting to grow on me.

Winning Blue Metallic (Medium blue) - looks good in person, but I'm partial to dark blue (x-men blue).

Titanium Grey Metallic (Medium - Dark Silver) - saw at new car show and loved it. Definitly gives a good mistique to car and to me has the drool factor. I just hope the paint doesn't fade like the 80's silvers did and turn into nasty grey.

Sunlight Silver Metallic (Light silver) - dont' like it personally.

Brilliant Black Clearcoat - the rx-8 looks good in darker shades. Black is my favorite color on this car even over the darker silver.

White - not availabe in the US, but light colors don't look good on this car.

Lightning Yellow - Loved the CYM 3rd gen rx-7s in this color, but I don't like it on the rx-8.

Nordic Green Mica (Dark green) - this will be a collector's color as I believe Mazda will discontinue this color next year. Looks great in person, but it's about as dark as the black except in full sunlight.

I think that's all the colors.

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

I wonder if anyone here is getting a Titanium '8' coming from a previous car that was a lighter silver? I'd be interested to know if they are worried about getting tired of the color.

I'm coming from a black car in Florida. Never looked clean for more than a day. Even so I was going to get a black RX-8, but when I saw the titanium in person I had to have it.

So I got it friday, and it's been raining every day here. Doesnt show the dirt as much as black or light silver green do, but you CAN tell when it's dirty.
