View Full Version : RX-8 Advertising
MarkW 08-10-2003, 11:50 AM If there is going to be a TV ad for the RX-8 in October, what sort of ad and music do you think would suit the RX-8?
Personally, I think most car ads are a load of cr4p.
Renault - VaVa Voom
Fiat Punto - Human League
Mazda - ZoomZoom
Vauxhall - Cant even remember
The only car as I can think of that I like at the moment is the Audi RS6 with the Bull.
I would rather just see some good shots of the car (interior and exterior) with some nice scenery and some appropriate music. I think rock music generally goes well with fast cars. I just hope they dont make it too girly, we've already got Formula Woman :o
How about some suggestions for some good tunes instead of zoom-zoom-zoom?
Lensman 08-10-2003, 11:55 AM Well:
You Spin Me Right 'Round - Dead or Alive
would doubtless be highly appropriate but as I can't stand it:
Kashmir - Led Zeppelin.
RobDickinson 08-10-2003, 02:25 PM Adds I've seen for it so far are a bit max powerish, but they are yank.
Jon H 08-10-2003, 02:32 PM Got a couple of ideas:
You keep me hanging on (by Diana Ross or someone in Motown I cant remember who)
Or
You aint never gonna get it (Destinys Child or someone like that)
You get my drift

MarkW 08-10-2003, 03:50 PM Just saw the Chrysler advert with the Crossfire. Song is "I drove all night" which is a great tune, shame about the arty B&W shots though.
I think Tom Petty - Running Down a Dream is a great driving song.
c170673 08-12-2003, 01:43 AM Behind the Wheel - Depeche Mode
Fuel - Metallica
A couple of my "driving tunes"
Chris
AnilS 08-12-2003, 03:51 AM Leftfield - Release the pressure.
But sadly, I feel we're going to get Zoom Zoomed all over the place.

Following this train of thought one of my 3yr old sons favourite soungs springs to mind;
They're not gonna get us - Tatu :p
From what I've read on various media review websites we're in for quite a different approach for the very first advert - no reggae zoom-zoom music this time. This could all change further on down the campaign.
Take a look at the downloads section of the Australian RX-8 website (http://www.mazda.com.au/articleZone1_rx8.asp?articleZoneID=2227) - a video (TV commercial?) plus a streaming copy of the US and Aussie TV adverts (unfortunately these are a little unreliable).
But will Mazda even feel the need to aggressively market the RX-8? Pre-orders are good and the feeling is sales will be strong after the car hits the streets.
Bez.
cw007 08-14-2003, 08:54 AM or what about Tom Petty's " I wont back down"
RobDickinson 08-14-2003, 09:02 AM How about :
Pariah - Powerless.
Ahem...:)
c170673 08-21-2003, 04:11 AM From watching Pulling Power on Tuesday we have a new contender for the music on the RX-8 TV adverts.
You spin me round (like a record) - Dead or Alive
Chris
RobDickinson 08-21-2003, 04:21 AM All the Dead Pilots - Better Late Than Never?
:))

I'm glad SOMEONE noticed... ;)
c170673 08-21-2003, 07:16 AM Apologies Lensman, I did have a quick scan of the thread first but my old eyes aren't what they used to be (too much time reading the Forum I think) perhaps I should avail of your services if we ever have a RX-8 Club meeting.
