View Full Version : Gauge pods other than PTP?
BlueRenesis82 03-24-2006, 05:20 PM Are there any other companies who make a 3 gauge pod holder? 60mm is what I'm looking for. I have seen the PTP one, but they seem to not respond to their emails, so I'm kind of hesitant to drop that sort of money with no response from them.
Red Devil 03-27-2006, 12:02 PM I thought you'd bought this a while ago?
RB has mentioned developing something on their website. Or you could custom make one out of fiberglass, but that stuff is horrible to work with. Personally I'd rather just spend the money.
takahashi 03-28-2006, 05:02 AM Hi.... click below... see my Defi meter with RE Amemiya Carbon Fibre Gauge Pod :yum:
Jeromie 04-05-2006, 02:49 PM urs is cool^ but it seems like too much of a hassle to get it in!
i want one like this but jus for a left hand drive.....
BigOLundh 04-05-2006, 04:22 PM adrian-1 has a gauge pod that is not PTP, and i think its a lot less expensive as well. You may want to send him a PM.

If my conversions is correct this is about $220 for CF and even less for FRP

BigOLundh 04-06-2006, 07:49 PM Oh note.. with the autobahn - if they are angled they are probably going to face your passenger.
BlueRenesis82 04-06-2006, 08:34 PM yeah, I would prefer something that is LHD angled.
ZOOMBY 04-06-2006, 08:59 PM urs is cool^ but it seems like too much of a hassle to get it in!

well looking at the pic, i can't tell if it is even angled. It maybe pointed straight. I'm not really sure.
Genesis 04-07-2006, 01:49 AM A couple of us in Singapore got some new gauge pods recently.
Here's a link to the non-CF RE Amemiya 3 gauge pod:

Here's the Knight Sports CF 2 gauge pod, which I'm not sure if it's available for the LHS steering:

TeamRX8 04-07-2006, 02:22 AM It's not just the angle. Note the cutout on the side for where it fits up against the RHD dash pod. Won't work on LHD
Racing Beat has one in the works, but who knows how long that could drag out ... :Freak_ani

rxeightr 04-07-2006, 02:06 PM I've been patiently waiting on Racing Beat's.
Suppose to be available in 'Spring 2006', so says the website.
BigOLundh 04-07-2006, 03:32 PM Here is the one from FEED. I'm not sure if they sell a LHD version...
20,700 Yen on the site, so about $190.

OlddraggerYou are really going to need to check to see if they have a LHD version..

You may want to contact BulletProofAutmotive.com or JapanParts.com to see if they can order this for you.
I want to get the FEED side mirrors but im done modding till 2007. Then the party starts up again.

Bindon 04-08-2006, 02:28 AM hmm, they dont look like they are all that angled either..... although, I think im going to go with the CF RE-Amemniya
Paul_in_DC 04-09-2006, 07:23 PM I like the 3-gauge pods on the dash, but I have a Nav system. Now, if somebody made a pod that would sit atop the Nav screen and still let it flip up when you want to use it, then I'd be mega-impressed. :worship:

The defi guages come with mini brackets. You maybe able to mount those to somehow work with your NAV setup.

Yeah, if I ever get there the A-pillar will work fine. The "mount on top of the NAV" thing is probably unrealistic (for my skills anyway) but it would add a nice 007 touch. :D
Actually what I need to install most right now is a HUD to display RPMs while I'm doing Autox or track days. I've seen a couple posts on that.
BigOLundh 04-10-2006, 02:33 AM I've noticed on autocrossing... the normal tach is fine... but whats even better is a good ear.
Oh, and if you're going to autocross, the a-pillar gauge might get in the way. I find it hard enough to look ahead to left with the regular a-pillar. I can't imagine how hard it would be with a gauge cluster infront of it.
L8APEX 07-06-2006, 08:27 AM Why do all the gauge pods have to be set up for RHD? Not every RX-8 is RHD.
Kinda sucks, b/c I will not pay 400-500 bucks for a gauge pod, and really don't want an A-Pillar pod, for exactly the reason pointed out by BigOLundh. ANd the less expensive ones, that look nice, are only for LHD. The FEED one would really do what I want, but it is pointed the wrong way.
slavearm 09-24-2006, 02:30 AM Meh... I am just getting one custom made =)
Shifty Devil 09-24-2006, 06:28 PM Derwankel posted recently that he is making a gauge pod to replace the center dash cover (over the nav area). http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=90588&highlight=gauge+pod

by far the best option out there. Once he makes them available, I am going to get this one, but won't get the crazy $$ gagues he is working from, but rather some more affordable mechanicals.
Razz1 09-25-2006, 03:45 PM Adrian1's looks nice but the angle looks funny.
Can you get behind the driver's seat and get a photo form the angle of a driver?
Please.............
RB's should be available soon.. I was there and saw the first unit in their car.
slavearm 10-04-2006, 08:14 PM I don't know how much you guys are getting quoted for those gauge pods, but it is running me around 350 to get a custom guage made by Creative Motorsports (trust me, you have seen their cars). Not much more than the ones for sale around.
