View Full Version : How many 8 owners also ride?
Krankor 03-09-2006, 11:25 PM I've noticed that there seem to be a fair number of RX-8 owners here who also ride motorcycles. I'm curious to know more about those demographics. Please answer only if you actually own an 8.
[Mods: please do not move this thread, I really want the numbers from the people who frequent THIS forum. Thanks!]
AdamK 03-09-2006, 11:29 PM I ride an '04 Honda ST1300ABS. The 8 reminds me a lot of the V4 in my bike! Smooth!! :)

Not I. The poll section is a subforum of the lounge. Nothing could interest me less than what the lounge crowd has to say.

opus_opus 03-10-2006, 08:09 PM Wow, that's a very high % of RX-8 owners who ride a motorcycle. Or is it just more motorcycle rides answered the poll?

Raptor2k 03-10-2006, 11:50 PM I wouldn't mind eventually buying a bike. I just don't know the specifics, i.e registration, bike schools, not getting killed...

here is my advice, ride off road for a while till you understand the controls, the take a motorcycle course.
then you have to ride like you are playing a giant video game.... the name of the game is they are all trying to kill you.

It's probably inevitable that there will be some bias like that. Still, it's more than I was expecting...

So, so true. You have to assume that every car on the road is going to try to kill you -- which is why I'm not going to miss it that badly. It seems that lately, every time I take my bike out, I narrowly avoid death or serious injury.
So the RX-8 is going to fill my need for speed from now on.

1up5dn 03-13-2006, 12:32 AM There wasn't a Sunday race. A couple of years ago they moved the 200 to Saturday just in case of rain, then they still have Sunday to run the race. Too many working folk fly home Sunday night/Monday morning.
Chris...

I agree with the everyone trying to kill you part, I think you just become more aware of bad drivers on a bike, though they are out there regardless if you are riding or driving.
I'm ok with people who never got into motorcycling or leave it because they simply are not true enthusiasts. But, I hate hearing "I left motorcycling or I'll never try it because it is too dangerous." Most of us are more likely to know somebody that died in a car accident then a motorcycle accident, but people never give up driving as a result. Every year I take up competitive trail riding, track days or track schools to stay sharp, and I actually feel just as safe on a bike as I do in my car. Point is, if you're half-assed about motorcycling you'll never feel safe, but IT IS absolutely safe in the hands of seasoned and well trained riders.
Plus, I find that skilled motorcyclists are better drivers.
cas2themoe 03-13-2006, 08:07 AM Does a Racing Motorcross Bike count? LOL I have a 2004 Kawasaki KX250.

Yes, I would definitely say that counts. :)
dazed and confused 03-14-2006, 10:48 AM Red VFR Honda !
ZimSilver05 03-14-2006, 07:03 PM Yea i find that once i started riding i noticed how shitty car drivers can be. But in turn it made me a better driver because i look out for bikers, becuase nothing better than when a mini van mom pulls in front of you and says i didnt see you>!
RX4MOM 03-15-2006, 08:34 AM I ride a 2003 Harley XL1200C - and I LOVE it! I would really like a Fat Boy, but I'm just physically too small to handle a bike that size in downtown traffic, so I'll have to stick with my Sporty I guess - anybody going to Sturgis this year?
djseto 03-15-2006, 08:42 AM I swear this question was posted a few weeks back. Anyways, I recently sold my race prepped SV650. I was a super track junky. That is me in my avatar pic at JenningsGP in Florida. My two favorite tracks are Road Atlanta and the best by far, Barber Motorports Track in Birmingham, AL. If you EVER get a chance to do a track day or race out there, you gotta go. Its my happy place.

So? Thats only one horsepower ;) Not impressive here. And the exhaust fumes...forgetaboutit.
BTY, Portugal will once again beat Spain, this time in the '06 World Cup...just letting you know. :hahano:
juanjux 03-17-2006, 08:39 AM Yes, but it's 4x4 has an amazing cruise control that guides itselfs and works in all roads X-D.
I hope Spain lost in the first round because I don't like football and this way I won't have to bear the World Cup ;-)
Butch Brown 03-17-2006, 08:45 AM Rode 2 stroke dirt bikes, they run just like the Rotary. Last one was a KX250.
