I have the side aero flares and rear aero flares in the garage getting ready for an install on Satuday....Just trying to get a heads up on has anyone else done an install with this package and if so do you have to drill holes? remove the rear wheels? just some details on what I am getting into for Saturday

I am also curious about this. I was going to take it to the Mazda auto body shop and have them do it. But if anyone can install then maybe I will attempt to do it myself.

The rear passenger piece came off of mine if that counts :D

I had to screw it back in and apply silicone sealent to ensure a tight fit

I was at the dealership and I poked around a 8 that had it on and well looked like some 3m tape, a few screws and some brackets, Now I can rip a race bike apart and do all that but seems like drilling into a 30k car is diffrent, I have no looked at the instructions , but if someone here had some exp. with this maybe there are some tricks? or is it better just to have the stealer put it on?

Thats what it is, on the rear is one bracket, something stickier than 3M tape though. It was stretchin out like it was glued, and a few screws in the fender wells. I imagine its the same w/ all the other parts.

I just bought the whole package and I may put it on this weekend.

Looking at the intructions, it looks like we got four holes to drill for each side flare, as long as we use the template properly, we shouldn't have a problem. Make sure you prime/repaint the openings so they don't start to rust. I was surprised that the whole front bumper has to come off to install the front spoiler.

Checking valve clearances on your 51 must be way harder than putting spoilers on your car.

Don't know how picky they are about this here but...
In the "other" RX8 forum there is a very elaborate DIY with lots of pictures and detailed instructions on installation of rear wing, air dam and aero flares. All this in a single post! Definately give you an idea of what's involved.

you have to drill into the body of the car, numerouos times, for the side aero flares.
The rear is the easiest...

Yeah I guess if your car did not come with it you would have to make new holes.

GOOD LUCK !

Guys, I have the side aero flares on my car, they came on from factory. I just wanted to give a heads up on having these. It seems that most people that have them complain about the front edge chipping of paint after about 6 months. I suggest get some 3M clear stuff and cover the front edges before putting them on.

I decided on those instead of the rear/side aero's. And the do actually work. Looks nice with the splash guards and the air dam.

For front spoiler and side flares, $800 Canadian plus tax...which is like 50 US bucks.

I got my sides and rears for 400 from Mazda. Also after looking at all that is involved in doing these I would rather check the valves on my bike than this, So the guys at Russel Mazda in Clearwater are doing them for me for 100.00 so Id rather pay that then screw up or I also do not really have the time. Than Brian the service guy tells me since they are factory Mazda parts and they are putting them on...they are covered by warrenty!! so if they fly off!! new parts....they guys there are great! thanks for all the feed back so now I can paint my porch instead of using colorful language in the garage all day
