OK, I can't find answers anywhere, so sorry if this is repeating any info, but i was hoping you guys on the boards could help me out. I bought a used 2005 RX-8 last week. The guy at the dealer tried telling me it's a Touring Package, and tried telling me there's different versions of the touring package that you can get, when everything I'm seeing is calling him a liar. (He also didn't know what LSD was when I asked him about it, so I'm not holding his word too highly. )

But basically I'm tyring to figure out what EXACTLY is on my car. It's just black manual transmission with cloth interior, 6-disc changer & navigation. It also has the rotary accent package and the appearance package.

My main question is: did the 2005 RX-8 come standard with LSD? I know the '06 does, but can't find info on if the '05 did as well. And what headlights does it come with if they're not the Xenon?

And the thing with the packages: I don't even think it's a SPORT package, cause I have no fog lights. And it's certainly not the Touring cause I have no sunroof, no BOSE audio, and no Homelink mirror.

Sorry for being such a n00b, I'm learning the car as I go, so please bear with me. Thanks in advance for your input!

 

Thats strange, he said Touring, maybe that's different than the Grand Touring, cause the options you have sound exactly like the Grand Touring without the Grand. I don't really know but I got the '05 Sport package and it has fog lights,LSD,DSC,18''rims,Sport tuned suspension, and thats pretty much it. Do you have the bigger rims?

I don't see how it sounds like the touring or grand touring, I have nothing in either of them. Yes, I have the 18" rims. But I don't even know how to find out if I have the LSD, DSC, sport tuned suspension, or any of that....? That's what I'm hoping you can help me with.

 

Ok, i might be wrong, but a few different dealers have told me they cannot get RX8's with NAV that are anything but GT's...perhaps in previous years a few were manu'd that way, but when i was building 05's EVERY single rx with nav was a GT.

 

So what happened then, someone bought the GT with navi, but then took off all the other options? That makes no sense. Ah, this is so frustrating...

All I really want to know is if I have LSD & DSC. Any idea how I find that out? :-\

 

Do you have the button on the dashboard to the left of the steering column to turn DSC off? If you don't have the button, you don't have DSC.

I think Nav was available at any package level. There is a new black 2005 Sport with Nav, appearance, spoiler, and accent packages sitting at my local dealer right now. Apparently a rare combination, but it does exist. However, given that Nav was a $2k option, it would make sense that most of them are on GT's as hedgecore mentioned.

 

I'll check for that button when I get out to the car later.

So the only question left then is if I have LSD... Did it come on all MT models in '05?

 

And what about traction control? How do I know if I have that too?

 

OK, I'm a NOOB too, but I've read several threads and can't keep it straight as to what model RX people are driving either. Mazda lists three models/trims but the posts are full of people driving, owning, looking at RX8's that have equipment combinations that don't match the offered combo's or sleect options.

Could KAtC10's used 2005 be a non-NA model? Europe or asia?

 

I talked to one of the mods on here yesterday, and he helped me out. All MT come with LSD, and if I don't have the DSC button, then I have no DSC/traction control. So it's all good, but my dealer is still a baka. *annoyed*
