Considering these wheels/tires - need some opinions

I'm considering this set of wheels & tires...
Axis Hiros & Pirelli P-Zero Nero; (and not just because it all rhymes)

R: 19x9.5 with 275/30/19
F: 19x8.5 with 235/35/19

From what I've read, they'll fit just fine - shouldn't scrub at all. But I haven't seen this size/set-up on any RX-8s. Anyone seen/got this set-up? Opinions?

Wheels look okay, but why go staggered?

If you decide to go 8.5 all around, I have a set in the For Sale section, cheap.

Looks nice. If you could choose, you could go with 245/35/19. I have heard ppl with 275's in the rear sometime has problem with rubbing, but it could just be the aggressive offset.

A 275/30/19 (25.5" tall) shoudl fit without any problems as long as the offset is within reason. The correct size per Mazda specification is 275/35/19 (26.5" tall). We have several wheels ranging in size from 19X9 to 19X10 and offsets ranging from 40 to 47mm. So as long as you are within that range you should be fine.

I have the tires in the stock size, saved 5lbs per tire and I really like the performance

I'm not sure of the offset... that's another way of saying "I have no clue". The situation is a little unique... A Mazda dealer decked out an RX-8 with all the options, Mazdaspeed stuff, etc. The car didn't sell ($$$) - it never left the showroom, so they pulled the wheels and stacked them in the parts dept. I saw them last week. The parts guy said "Dude, you can have'em at our cost."

So, I'm going a little on faith that the Mazda guys knew what to order (the got the stagger right). The wheels even have the TPM sensors in them. Tuesday, I'm going to inspect the wheels more closely and I'll get the offset numbers.

I'll either post back Tuesday with more questions... or (more likely) with pics!

Thanks.

Actually, at our recent meet here in FL two RX8's had those rims and they are very nice looking. I don't know much about offset and such, but looks wise they really look nice.

You can't go wrong...while remember, going staggard does things to your handling so I hear.

I believe that the 18x8.5 wheels are a +45mm or +42mm offset.

Yeah... I read most of that raging debate. I can absolutely see how it could/will effect the handling - biasing the car toward understeer. But, I gotta tell you, anytime I've pushed the car "too hard", it has oversteered. To me - with my (average) driving skills) the car feels biased to oversteer from the factory. And the reality, as much as I hate to admit it - I don't race. And, the neutrality can be regained by making some "adjustments" (sway bars, tire pressure, shocks, etc.) for the track days. In the meantime... it's just going look damn cool!

You shouldn't have any problem with them. I pretty have the same setup on my car. Unless you drop the car more than 1.2" then you might rub on the back.

Well, they're on... and I haven't seen it yet. I'm going to get the car tomorrow AM. I feel like an 8 year old on Christmas eve.

I'll post pics tomorrow.
