Does anyone know if the installation of the illuminated shifter knob will be a problem in the US spec 8's. Is it easy to install?

There will have to be some sort of wiring in the gear leaver, take your gear knob off and have a look, there may just be one wire though because it may 'ground' through the metal of the gear leaver itself. eccles 08-08-2003, 09:11 AM Originally posted by Titanium Grey There will have to be some sort of wiring in the gear leaver, take your gear knob off and have a look, there may just be one wire though because it may 'ground' through the metal of the gear leaver itself. Having had the gear shift boot and surround off as part of the MP3 player install, I can tell you that there's no dedicated wiring for the shift knob under there. I suspect the illuminated knob will probably draw its power via a wire tap spliced into the ashtray lighting. tripwire 08-08-2003, 03:16 PM I thought I read somewhere that the "Red" glow is always on, created from an "Indiglo" effect. Like on "Indiglo" writs watches. As though it had a button cell battery in it. Could be wrong. I'll try to find where I read that. Goldenhue22 08-08-2003, 10:42 PM RAMFANN- Go to JAPANPARTS.COM They have everything there. They told me that the illuminated knob will work on US spec cars. I just wanted to know if someone has done this yet as they may just a sale. tripwire 08-08-2003, 11:22 PM I didn't see it listed in their inventory - did you find it on their website? The Beav 08-08-2003, 11:28 PM i'm pretty interesting in seeing how's it illuminated, i don't think i could deal with a wire, but if it's battery powered that'd be cool, or maybe even solar powered, like those glow in teh dark watch hands eccles 08-09-2003, 12:16 AM Originally posted by The Beav i don't think i could deal with a wireYou wouldn't even know the wire was there if it was thin enough to pass between the shift shaft and the shift boot; the wiring would all be hidden under the boot. ramfann 08-09-2003, 02:36 AM are you talking about the leather shift knob that has the shift pattern light up? Some RX7 guys wanted it a while back so I looked into it, and there is a lumination light for the Jspec ones at least.
