ok.....not to be shown up by the Sydney owners, who in Melbourne would be interested in having a Melbourne Owners Meet?

I was thinking St Kilda Beach?

I think September is a good idea as it gives some time for more cars to arrive. Even early October?

Who would be interested in coming?

The next container is arriving in early November. :) That's when mine, and a few others here, will arrive.

:D I'm on now!

St Kilda great place to turn heads but up in the hills will be better to really have some fun with the car.

i might be in if it fits into our family's schedule. weekends are so busy.

we went for a nice drive to mt macedon on the weekend and picked up a small stone chip on the nose. very small but annoying. it came off a car ahead on the freeway.

at least it is better than a knock on the door in at the shopping centre!

Mike I see stone chip in cars like when we wear shoe. It won't get scretched if you put in the shoe box! If you use it, you expect some wear and tear on it sooner or later.

On the other hand, the touch up paint is very handy

OK my plans for weekend.

Crows/collingwood Fri night

Sat night mates house warming.

Gee that leaves Sat and Sun for fun (preference for Sat as I may be a little shabby on Sun!)

Cheers

P.S. 1400 ks, 9000 rpm sure is sweet!

Hi,

I've been in the Gold Coast for the past 5 days.

Back to work now. I won't have much time for driving except to work and back. I'm also working this coming weekend. Dammit.

I only saw one RX-8 whilst in Surfers Paradise. It was a titanium one. I didn't catch the plate details though.

Have fun on your drive!

Folks,

Mine arrives the first week of Sept. Lets try for the second week if possible. The boat left Japan on Aug 7 (takes 20 days to get here) so there should be more around that week.

Its Blue with Spoiler, Stakes, Rotary emblems and a few other bits.

Suggest we set a date soon and one later in the year.

Cheers

Here is the date for the first meet.

I am new to this forum but it seems you need someone to set out a time. I will be there in a winning blue one even if no-one else turns up.

Saturday 20th of September 12.30 pm (midday) for either a chat and then maybe a drive about 2pm if you want to continue on. This time is before the footy and will allow for a few late arrivals.
We can work out any ongoing arrangements with each other from there.

There is a cafe on the banks of the Yarra opposite Herring Island. Mel ref 58 G1, on the extension Alexandra Ave. It has a heap of carparks and should be fairly central for everyone.

So how about it, anyone got a better haunt with a lot of car spots out the front. All responses for location by 5th September.

I can provide a mobile number at a later stage to centralise last minute contacts.

Post your reply or front up on the day with your new 8 or current ride.

See ya then.

OK Melb Folks,

It's time to get our act together. The Sydney people seem to have had a great day out there at windy Palm Beach. It would be great to get as many Vic 8s as we can - out on those big smooth roads and cruise.

Japfan is it still on for this Saturday? The weather is a bit shit this week and potentially into the weekend. Any chance for making it the weekend after on Sunday? Or even the Saturday or Sunday after that. It should warm up a bit by then.

Please advise. I am happy to organise if need be. Looking forward to having as many of you there as possible.

Future owners of 8s are welcome as passengers - you know who you are......

Cheers, Stoli

I'd prefer the 28th of Sept personally, however i'm not the majority.

The 2003 Jamboree Drags are on the 20-21st of sept in queensland which I will be attending and I do want to be here for the Melb cruise!

I would be happy to move it to Sunday 28th September.

I think this should be our last date change though, lets get it on!

Is the same venue OK with everyone for that Sunday at 12.30 MD.

Dez
11-09-2003, 08:36 AM
so how's it running then - what - now 10 days old?

++dez;

ps: run the thing in by driving up to Sydney to catch up with a few of us in NSW perhaps!?

pps: perhaps after xmas we should arrange a nattional "fly in" somewhere on the east coast?

takahashi

++dez...

10 days old. Very nice... 800km now

First time running up to the red-line finding the beep near the red line is not very loud . I think it can be adjusted right? I will ask when I go for my first service.

Dez
11-10-2003, 05:05 PM
actually, I too noticed during my test drive of the RX8 that the beep appeard a little too quiet.

but in time I've come to be able to discern it over any other noise ( like 10,000 screaming rpm's ) and I'm kinda glad it's not too loud as it would prolly become a bit anoying.

you see I tend to hear it a bit * grin * infact I even got my first oil can light yesterday! wahoo!

fantastic to hear that otherwise it's running well - 800k is a pretty good effort, but I think you can do better * grin *

take Enrie Dingo's advice - I do..

"Go on.. Get out there! See Awswalia!"

hee hee.

Hymee

I know a little birdie who can hear the beeper even with his racing helmet on.

Dez
11-10-2003, 06:42 PM
Racing helmet? I'm assuming that's not on the road ?

Hmm.. * adds racing helmet to xmas wish list *

Them's dam fine hearing ears you got there Hymee!

Hymee

I'll give you a couple of hints...

This is a public forum, so you wont find an offical admision of "track work" - although the brochure the dealer gave me mentions this a "use " use of the car.
I have just happened to drive the car down this very straight length of road that happened to have a set of lights at one end, and I had to slow down after about 400 meters.
There happened to be someone who had set up a timing system.

But no - I have not actually "raced" the car ;)

Cheers,
Hymee.

Dez
11-11-2003, 03:21 AM
hee hee.. enough said..

I'll get you to show me that nice straight streach of road some time..

Anyone know if the intensity of beeper for the rev limit can be adjusted? Anyone ask this question to the dealer... I am going for my 1000km service next wednesday and I will ask then

Dez
11-14-2003, 02:54 AM
anyone else willing to admit that they find themselves driving along quietly with others in the car and you can't help but talk about the little beep.. and then when they ask "what beep?" you clutch in and rev out till the beep says "hi there beeeep"?

sigh.. I've got issues..

I'm off to Melbourne tomorrow night until Wednesday... if you see a pedestrian grinning and giving you the thumbs up in the CBD.... that'll be me!

I'm out of any drive till after xmas sorry - I'll be pushing it to make the big five oh b'day bash in Qld and stay married at this rate..

I've been officially told that my wife's feeling like a n RX8 widow at times..

I think she's only partially joking.
