View Full Version : Switchblade style key fob - dead battery?
alcimedes 03-02-2006, 09:31 AM So I own an '04 and bought an '05 style key. I programmed the key just fine, but the fob will not program for the life of me. Last night someone else who's done the reprogram stopped by, we went over all the steps, and it seemed I was doing everything right, it just wasn't taking.
However, we did notice one difference between his '05 key and mine. On his key, when you press down a button and hold it (lock, unlock, etc) the light will flash one time and stop.
On my remote, the light flashes about once every second or so, and will just keep flashing. Anyone with an '05 remote know what this means? I did a search but couldn't find anything.
alcimedes 03-07-2006, 10:21 AM Sorry to bump this, but does no one know what the 05 keys do when the battery dies?
maddog63 03-12-2006, 08:52 PM Yeah, the light on the remote lights and the car does absolutely nothing. Of course the last part is obvious...
alcimedes 03-12-2006, 08:59 PM Hmm, so the fob still lights up.
Might have an answer soon, got a different key fob, so we'll find out.
swoope 03-12-2006, 09:11 PM cant wait to find out the answer to this. mine worked fine.

alcimedes 03-12-2006, 09:33 PM Do you know your IC codes of your '04 keys and the new '05 key? On the '05 it's inside where the key connects/disconnects.
swoope 03-12-2006, 09:40 PM no,
i could look for you if you like, but you will need to tell me what to do in detail.
pm me. i am in the middle of another project so it might be a bit.

SilverEIGHT 05-31-2006, 09:36 PM Found my 05 key fob outdoors after it had been lost for about 6 mths. Battery is dead so the remote does not work but it does open and crank the car. Now, I need to know how to open it up and replace the battery and where do I get the battery?
late8 06-01-2006, 07:29 PM I hope this helps.

Awesome! Thanks a bunch! :icon_tup:
SilverEIGHT 06-10-2006, 08:30 PM I took my key fob apart according to the directions above and stopped by a Radio Shack to pick up a battery, popped it in and bingo! She works. Thanks late8!

How much did it cost?
Thanks!
alcimedes 06-11-2006, 09:23 AM I got the FOB side for about $50, an uncut key from Rosenthal Mazda was another $30 or $35. Overall it wasn't that much more than the '04 style.
