guys when you test drive the RX-8 remember to FULLY turn off the traction control (if i remember correctly you need to hold down the button for a couple of seconds)
the car will feel much better and have more power
good luck!

Nah, it's just one quick push. I accidently left it on when a Rustang pulled up next to me

You have to hold it for about 5 seconds to turn off the "DSC" as well. There will be two indicators on the dashboard lit up after this.
BTW I was able to "chirp" or "bark" 'em in 3 with it turned off. :D

Wrong, that's why he posted this to start with - one quick push (as documented in the owners manual) does NOT completely turn off the traction control and stability control. The undocumented method to turn them off completely is to push and hold the button for several seconds (5 to 10) until both the warning lights are on.

whoa, was not aware of that. I just push it once real quick and I get a decent of bark off the line.

Gah.
One quick push = DSC OFF unless ABS kicks in, and thats not gonna happen if your accelerating.
Long press = DCS off totaly. Only for tracks and very confident drivers.

Yeah, I played a bit today. After a late night at the office, I turned off the DSC fully. I cruised down the highway, hit an on ramp (tight clover leaf) doing about 50 down it in 2nd, stood on the gas and shifted into 3rd, ahh much better with the DSC off. I hit an on ramp then came to a halt at a stop sign. Looked both ways, two times :), eased it into 1st, while taking a left hand turn I gave it full throttle, back end slid around, coaxed it through the turn going sideways. I let of the throttle for a sed to straighten out the car, then ran it through 2nd. Fun, fun, fun, much better with the DSC OFF! Still needs more power though, where are my 20 ponies?
Off Topic: I've heard good things about A-spec's services for RX-7s. Dunno about the 8s but I assume in the future he will tune them as well.

It's much harder to race on Gran Turismo 3 without traction control.

Only in extremely high HP cars. It's actually much more easier to drive without traction control in GT3. But, that's besides the point of the thread.
