I have ordered several appearance items for my car. The last thing now to consider is strakes. What is the general opinion on strakes? Should I get them or no? If yes, I have two configurations that I am considering.

#1--Get the stainless steel strakes from the eBay seller in the U.K.

#2--Get the chrome fender vent covers to replace the black stock ones and get a set of titanium gray strakes from rx8strakes.com.

Skip the strakes and take your car to a good body shop and have the vents made functional!!

How are the hypermax II's doing for you? Mine go on soon with RB sways, hopefully it doesn't end up too stiff....

I like the strakes, they just cost to much. I have them and still like them, but I still kick myself in the ass, becuse I should have used the money to buy swaybars first. if you're all about the looks go for the strakes, if not you know what to do with your money.

option# 3- no strakes and use that money for something else...you should make this a poll so you can get some numbers to work with.

Another vote for the stainless strakes here - I got a set from someone who had ordered then sold their car, and they're really well designed and made, and look great IMO.

The chrome vents look cheap to me, and wrong - they're clearly a plastic component chromed.

If you can get swaybars; hell, swaybar droplinks, for the cost of the stainless strakes, I want to know where. The stainless strakes are £65. That's the cost (almost) of a tank of gas here :P

(I got mine a bit cheaper, but that's because my car is leased and I didn't want to throw money away on things I would have to give up with the car).

Why dont you just tae them off before you turn in the car and resell them?

Because they'd be two years old, might leave a mark on the car, wouldn't have the original sticky, and don't cost all that much? If they were so expensive that I wouldn't leave them on the car, I wouldn't put them on the car in the first place ;)

I really want mudflaps, but those are horribly expensive.

I wonder what the deal is with parts prices in other countries? I think the mud flaps cost about $74 for a pair in the U.S. I read on the Canada regional forum that some of them were paying as much as $700+ CDN for the front air dam. I can't imagine what the MS kits cost there.

IIRC the mudflaps are £130 or so here. $74 would be about £48, and I'd pay that right away.

The list price of the air dam is over 700. No one I know would pay that. We just order from the States. Like my silver strakes from RX8strakes.com (US$80) or my clear corners with stealth bulbs (US$70) Free trade is a good thing...

It's your car.. do whatever it is you like.
Peronally i feel chrome belongs on a cadillac, and looks hideous on an RX. Just my opinion.
