YEEEEEHAAAA !!!
How excited was I sitting at the last set of lights before arriving at my Mazda dealer at 4:30pm this afternoon !
Yes, finally, I took delivery of my Velocity Red Hi-Power today and despite only covering about 30km so far I am already singing the praises of this fantastic car. It is SOOOO much fun to drive !
I found myself almost steering into the other lanes as I rounded corners because the steering is so precise. I've been used to my cars giving a little bit when cornering., either with body roll or understeer...kind of gliding round. Not the RX-8, it positively carves it's way around the roads.
And it is definately a head turner. Consider this....my drive home from the dealer this evening was less than 20km and getting dark. Yet I had a Nissan 350Z cruising alongside me for a couple of km, moving slightly ahead of me then dropping back, having a really good look at my car. Then a bit further on a motorcyclist pulled about 10 meters up ahead and to the left of me, matched my speed and gave me a huge thumbs up. I acknowledged his appreciation and he pulled away. As I came through the shopping area where I live some young guys were chatting to a mate at his car. As I cruised by they all stood in the middle of the road and watched me drive down the street.
I've always loved driving, but now owning an RX-8, I actually look forward to it.
