YEEEEEHAAAA !!!

How excited was I sitting at the last set of lights before arriving at my Mazda dealer at 4:30pm this afternoon !

Yes, finally, I took delivery of my Velocity Red Hi-Power today and despite only covering about 30km so far I am already singing the praises of this fantastic car. It is SOOOO much fun to drive !

I found myself almost steering into the other lanes as I rounded corners because the steering is so precise. I've been used to my cars giving a little bit when cornering., either with body roll or understeer...kind of gliding round. Not the RX-8, it positively carves it's way around the roads.

And it is definately a head turner. Consider this....my drive home from the dealer this evening was less than 20km and getting dark. Yet I had a Nissan 350Z cruising alongside me for a couple of km, moving slightly ahead of me then dropping back, having a really good look at my car. Then a bit further on a motorcyclist pulled about 10 meters up ahead and to the left of me, matched my speed and gave me a huge thumbs up. I acknowledged his appreciation and he pulled away. As I came through the shopping area where I live some young guys were chatting to a mate at his car. As I cruised by they all stood in the middle of the road and watched me drive down the street.

I've always loved driving, but now owning an RX-8, I actually look forward to it.

Congratulations and welcome to the owners club. It really is amazing the amount of attention the car gets. The thing I like is that people are genuinely happy to see the car, all thumbs up and smiles. Ive never had so many strangers wind down windows or come over for a chat.

As I was taking a corner at 65 mph last night I couldn't stop thinking "this car is like driving on rails." It is so reasuring to be driving a car that feels this precise. Now when I drive my girlfriend's car, I feel llike we are all gonna die! The car is so unstable in comparison. I used to think it was pretty decent.

Now I can never go back to anything with less capability.

Big Congratz, and happy motoring!

Congrats PDU... it really is amazing how even people who aren't car mad really like to see the car. I think it is just such a unique car that everyone responds to it!

Happy driving...

Glad your wait is finally over P.D.U- trouble is I've STILL got a week or two to go, so reading these posts just drives me crazy.

Can I just say ditto to your YEEHAAAAA! .... make that 2 (at least) new RX8's hit the roads of Sydney today.

Dealer had orignially said that although they had it delivered, I couldn't have it till next week. I think the sound of my whimpering at the news got me some sympathy and they pushed things along.

It came as a complete surprise when they called me up this morning saying I could have it. Nice of them to put me out of my misery in time for the week-end.

Thanks P.D.U - I got the Titanium with Red/Blk interior - and after driving it for the past couple of days, all I can say is ditto to everything positive everyone in this forum had to say about this car over the past 8 months.

I just can't fault this car in any regard- for the price, there is no substitute.

Now I'm off for another drive to nowhere in particular - can't help myself.

I'd better get some more miles under my belt. I've only done 500km since the 30th July.

I passed the 2000K mark on the weekend... between my wife and I the RX8 never seems to stop moving!
