I saw one of these today:

…and it jarred my memory. I always thought that the FD RX-7 (1993+ RX7) was my first desired rotary but I remembered it was the FC actually.

The FC was a very good looking car in it’s day and I remember wanting it but being scared away by the rotary naysayers. Then the FD came along and I REALLY wanted one but it wasn’t meant to be either.

But the rotary was not done with me...

Then, when I thought all the car companies didn’t have something I truly wanted, Mazda made the RX8 (practically the perfect sports car for me).

So, it appears the rotary has been seeking me out all along…I’m sure glad I finally tasted the uniqueness that is…

A RX rotary!
:D:

Yeah, the FC was my first romance with the rotory as well, Actually traded it in for my RX8 down payment. I might get another as a beater one day...

I had my FC for 17 years until I got my 8. It wasn't the fastest car but it was quick enough and it looked good and handled great. Mine was very reliable for the whole time. When I got my 8 I couldn't trade it in, it had been a part of my life for so long. So I handed it down to my son to drive. Still going strong at 168K miles.

Yep, I too started with a Metallic Blue '89 GXL that I drove from '95 to '00. I still thought about this car at least one a week from there on out and think it is one of the best looking designs out there.

Many memories like stuffing 3 teenage girls in the back (willingly and I was a teenager too) to losing control on the mist covered interstate in Missouri which resulted in skidding out of control for 252 yards (that's over 2 1/2 football fields and the troopers measured the skid marks with their measuring wheel). This unplanned stunt ripped both back tires off the wheels but left them undamaged (along with the rest of the car). Any other car with less superior suspension probably would of flipped, killing us.

mmm FC... too bad it's hard to find one in decent condition on the market nowadays, all the good ones are in someone's garage and not for sale :o:
